London to Tobermory
Here we are at last, in our beautiful bed and breakfast by the
sea. We are in Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull, off the west coast
of Scotland. It took us more than fifteen hours to get here, but it
didn’t matter because we had so much fun on the way. And we
had (1)_____luck all the way, as you’ll see if you read on.
We left London really early yesterday morning and took a train
to Glasgow Central Station. Our bags (2)_____packed the night
before and believe it or not, Dave remembered everything,
including his toothbrush! That journey took five and a half
hours. We read, listened to music and played cards.
When we got to Glasgow, we had lunch in that lovely café
(3)_____everybody recommended. We were enjoying our lunch
and chatting happily when we suddenly realised we had fifteen
minutes before our next train was going to leave. You’ve never
seen anyone walk so fast! We ended up running down the
street, but luckily our train was (4)_____by ten minutes, so in
the end we had time to spare.
Then we were on our way to Oban, our next stop. The train took
about three hours. The journey was so beautiful that I wanted it to
last forever. I spent the whole time just looking at the countryside
out of the window. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the lochs
(Scottish lakes) and hills were (5)_____in the sunlight.
When we got to Oban, we had to hurry to the terminal, as our
(6)_____was just about to leave. We were very lucky to get on,
because if you miss that ferry you have to wait three hours until
the next one comes. We stood on (7)_____and enjoyed the sun
and wind after spending so many hours on the train. I couldn’t
believe we were in Scotland and it wasn’t raining!
And then, finally, we arrived in Craignure, the main ferry
(8)_____on Mull. Luckily, the bus to Tobermory was there to
meet the ferry and an hour later we were in our bed and
breakfast. It was 10 o’clock at night and only just getting dark.
Mrs McDougall, the kind lady (9)_____owns the bed and
breakfast was there to meet us, and after having something to
eat, we fell into bed, tired but very happy. We slept

in the north!

Getting to your destination
