Class: XI
Sub : Maths Chapter - 10

Locus :- If a point moves according to same geometrical conditions, Then the path traced out by the moving point
is called its locus. Or Locus of a point under some conditions is a geometrical figure such that each point of this
figure satisfy given condition.
Concurrent Lines :- Three or more than lines are called concurrent lines if all these lines passes through a common
point. This common point is called concurrent point of lines.
1- Median : The line segment joining the vertex of any triangle to the mid-point of opposite side is called median.
2- Perpendicular Bisectors : The perpendicular drawn at mid-point of any side of triangle is called perpendicular
bisector of that line.
3- Angle Bisectors : The line segment which divides any angle of triangle into two equal parts is called angle
bisector of that angle.
4- Altitude : The line segment which is obtained by perpendicular drawn from vertex of a
triangle to the opposite side is called altitude of triangle in Fig. CD ,AE and BF are altitudes.

5- Circumcentre : The point of all the perpendicular bisectors of the three sides of a triangle
is called circumcentre of triangle.

6- Orthocentre : The concurrent point of all the altitudes of triangle is called orthocentre.
7- Incentre : The bisectors of the interior angles meet at a point. This point of
intersection is called incentre of the triangle.

Theorem 10.1 :- The locus of a point which is equidistant from two fixed points is the perpendicular bisector of
the straight line joining the two fixed points. Or Locus of points equidistant from two fixed points is perpendicular
bisector of line joining the given points.
Throrem 10.2 :- The locus of a point which is equidistant from two intersecting lines consists of a pair of straight
lines which bissect the angle between the two given lines. Or The locus of point equidistant from two intersecting

lines is bisector of angle formed by those lines. Or The locus of that point which is equidistant from two intersecting
lines is linear pair which bisector the angles formed by these lines.
Throrem 10.3 :- In a triangle, perpandicular bisectors of its sides are concurrent. Or In a triangle, perpandicular
bisectors of all the sides of triangle passes through same point.
Throrem 10.4 :- The angle bisectors of a triangle are concurrent. Or The angle bisectors of a triangle passes
through the same point.
Throrem 10.5 :- All the true altitudes of a triangle are consurrent. Or Three altitudes of a triangle are passes
through same point.
Throrem 10.6 :- The medians of a triangle passes through same point and this point divides each median in the
ratio 2:1.
