Scanty rainfall hits sowing activities
in Chintamani taluk
CHINTAMANI: The farmers in
Chintamani taluk are gear-
ing up to face another year
of drought. After a few spell
of rains in June, the month
of July failed to bring cheers
among the farmers.
At least 77.5 mm of rainfall
was expected in July. How-
ever, the taluk received only
16.07 mm of rainfall. By July
end, 275.8 mm of rainfall is
expected. So far, only 145.3
mm of rainfall is recorded.
There is no permanent irri-
gation facility in the taluk. The
farmers here are completely
dependent on rain-based ag-

the district has increased this

infected with dengue so far.
