CHAPTER 5: Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning

1. Can you relate Mike Boyle's views on employee motivation to the need theories
discussed in this class? If so, how?

Yes, because of studying the course subject Organizational Management, I am be


able to motivate myself to study more by not being stress and doing a time
management when it comes to school purposes. Hence, I know that I can manage
and do my best to pursue what I have started that even boosted my self-esteem to
present myself as who I am when doing a class performance and be able to
communicate better with my fellow _________in a matter of discipline and proper
address in situation. I feel the motivation with my friends who are there to support
me as my parents does. Motivation is the key to make a person perform well with
positive sight and thoughts for a brighter future as studying does.
2. How does expectancy theory explain Ana's view of her work at Mike Boyle's
Strength & Conditioning?
The effort she boosted to reach her target and performing with hardship is really a
way of giving her a reward to achieve her target goal. Also, Mike Boyle
understands, some trainers are simply working while they pursue other career
opportunities, he focuses on trying to motivate his staff to both grow and develop as
fitness professionals while also seeing his gym as a place they want to stay.
Therefore, it is expectation through the work performance also a way of motivation
to pursue another challenge with the help of Mike Boyle; Ana was able to have a
positive point of view in Strength and Conditioning.
3. Marco speaks about the pride he takes in both his work and the gym. Describe
how his pride can be explained by any of the eed perspectives on motivation.
The perspective on motivation that Marco speaks is about how he adapts the
environment with his need that satisfies his desire with physiological as aspect with
safety purposes in the gym. The pride he takes in both his work and the gym
describe his pride of doing his passion by not being underestimated by what he can
do and be able to manage his own personal agenda. Also, the way how Mike Boyle
takes care his subordinates are well organized that feeds them to insert effort as they
were motivated by him.

4. How do Bob's ideas about training and learning relate to employee motivation?
An employee’s motivational performance is always an outcome form the
employer’s performance and relationship to the employee. The direct result is also
the sum of the interaction of the both employer and employees with positive result
that would gain light relationship that gives both motivations to one other. Mike
Boyle is a good employer who never brings his employees down and makes them
pursue what they can be who can always do better. Therefore, relationship among
the two gives the impact of give and take relationship of motivating each other’s
side that would also be a pride of a proper interaction of communication with
understanding of both sides.
