RUBIAH ISLAND

Aceh Province actually has tourist attractions to be proud of, one of

which is Rubiah Island. Rubiah Island is on the western tip of Sumatra Island,
offering the charm of its underwater beauty. This island has an area of
approximately 26 hectares. Because of the charm of the underwater wealth,
the Rubiah Sea Garden or the Sea Garden of Rubiah is dubbed the paradise of
divers.
Rubiah Island is part of the City of Sabang, precisely located northwest of
WE island. This island is only about 250 meters from Aceh Iboih Beach. During
the heyday of the Kingdom of Aceh, Rubiah Island was a transit point for would-
be pilgrims, and during the world war this island was a defensive fortress which
still remains the ruins of the fort. But now, along with the development of the
tourist world, Rubiah Island is a tourist destination for divers.

The Origin of Rubiah Island

Rubiah is one of the names taken from the name Siti Rubiah, which was
sown as a name in the Iboih Sub-District, Sukakarya District, Sabang City.
Siti Rubiah is a child of Tengku Mustafa and is married to Tengku Ibrahim who
was also held by Tengku Iboih from Iboih Pidie.

During Sultanah Ratu Syafiatudin, Tengku Ibrahim was one of the

scholars and son-in-law of Tengku Mustafa who was in Iboih Pidie.
Tengku Ibrahim was one of the scholars who agreed that a woman from Ratu
Syafiatudin became a Kingdom Leader at that time, so she alienated herself
from an island called WE Island.

After settling for a while on WE Island and holding activities as a AL

Quran teacher and others and not long after, his wife named Siti Rubiah
followed and settled on WE Island.
 After several years Tengku Ibrahim and Siti Rubiah settled on we Island,
one day there was a difference between the two caused by karma when Siti
Rubiah came to WE Island, she came with her niece and brought a dog.

According to Tengku Ibrahim raising dogs is illegitimate in Islam, while Siti

Rubiah considers dogs to be guardians of wild animals, if at times they are
disturbed by wild animals and include a man with Siti Rubiah who is not his
muhrim, it is prohibited in religion so a conflict between the two and
unavoidable riots so there was a great fight between the two.

From the results of the deliberations of the two insane facilitated by the
surrounding community because they have different ideals, the wealth is
divided into two records of livestock animals belonging to Siti Rubiah while the
plants or residences are divided into two locations, the first location in Iboih
falls for Tengku Ibrahim while the island next to it belongs to Siti Rubiah.

At the climax of the distribution of livestock property, buffaloes, goats,

chickens, ducks and others joined Siti Rubiah, who was next to Iboih, with anger
Tengku Ibrahim swore at the cattle, especially buffaloes who joined Siti Rubiah,
the island was condemned to become the current rock the name is Meuron-
Ron Stone

Then set Siti Rubiah on the island with survivors and santri around him,
for the study group to study religion and begin from there the name Siti Rubiah
was sown as the name of the Rubiah Island and it was one of the 44 sacred
aulia still believed to be until now.
