Types of forests

The grasses, shrubs and trees, which are in without interference or help from human beings are called natural
vegetation. Vegetation/forests of India can be divided into 5 types:
1 tropical evergreen forest
2 tropical deciduous forest
3 thorny bushes
4 mountain vegetation
5 mangrove forests

tropical rainforest

Tropical rainforest occur in the areas which receive heavy rainfall. They are so then that sunlight doesn't reach the
ground. The trees shed their leaves at different times of the Year therefore there always appear green and called
evergreen forest.

Tropical deciduous forests

These forests are also called monsoon forest. They are less dense. Trees Shed their leaves at particular time of the
year.

Trees found : teak,peepal,neem,shisam


Location : Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, chhattisgarh, odisha and Maharashtra

Thorny bushes
Are found in dry areas of the country. The leaves are in the form of spines to reduce loss of water.

Mountain vegetation

A wide range of species found in Mountain mountains according to the variation in height. With increase in height
the temperature falls. Height of 1500 metres 2500 most of the trees are conical in shape.
Trees found: Pine, chir, Deoder

Mangrove forest

This forest can survive in saline water. they are found in Sundarbans in West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar
Islands.

Uses of forests

Forests Are very useful for us. They perform various functions. Plant release oxygen that we breathe and also
observed carbon dioxide. Root of the plant bind soil and they control soil erosion. Forests provide us with Timber
furniture fuel wood fodder, and medicinal plants and and herbs, honey set, gum etc. Forest are natural habitat of
wild animals.
van Mahotsav Is celebrated every year to make people aware of the importance of trees.

Nature to be balance with vegetation and wildlife - flora and fauna

Forest are home to variety of wildlife there are thousands of species of animals and large variety of reptiles,
mammals birth from insect which well in the forest. The tiger is the national animal and peacock is our national
bird.

To protect animals, the national parks, sanctuaries and biosphere reserves mr Bean setup. Project Tiger and project
elephant are to protect the animals. It is important to conserve wildlife to bring balance between forest and wildlife.

Here are the few things that we can do to contribute in conserving the wildlife and vegetation:
1 refused to buy things made of parts of bodies of animal such as their horns,bones, fur and skin and feathers
2 every year we celebrate Wildlife week in the first week of October to create awareness of conserving the habitat
of animal kingdom.
3 to protect of forest vegetation van Mahotsav is celebrated every year to create awareness and importance of trees
