Unit VII Force and Motion

Types of Forces

I. Objectives

a. Identify and describe the different types of forces

b. Appreciate the importance of the Lesson and relate it to real life situation

c. Create any literary piece in relation with today’s topic

II. Subject Matter:

a. Topic: UNIT VII: Force and Motion

b. References: The New Science Links Worktext in Science and Technology (4th
Revised Edition) pp. 229-235 Types of Forces

c. Strategies: Paper and Pencil Activities, Cooperative Learning, puzzle and


Classroom Discussion

d. Valuing/ Insight: We cannot see force, but we can feel and see its effects on the
different materials around us.

III. Lesson Proper

2. Review

 What is Force?

 Give examples

3. Introduction of Lesson

The students will have an activity.


1. Jumbled Letter

The students will have an activity entitled “MESS INTO MESSAGE”

They will arrange the Jumbled Letters to form the two (2) main kinds of
Forces.

 Contact Forces

 Non-contact Forces

4. Discussion

The students will have an activity entitled “PERFECT MATCH”

The teacher will show the different kinds of forces, the students will match the
given types of forces to the main type of forces.

Contact Forces- forces that need to be in direct contact with the object in order to
apply force on it

1. Applied Force- is transferred from a person or an object to another.

2. Normal Force- is exerted on an object when it is in contact with another


object

3. Friction Force- occurs when an object moves or tries to move across a


surface and the surface opposes the object’s movement.

4. Air Resistance Force- acts on objects as they travel through the air. This
force will oppose motion, but only factors in when object travel at high speeds
or have a large surface area.

5. Tension Force- passes through strings, cables, ropes, or wire when they are
being pulled in opposite directions.

Non-contact Forces- are forces that do not need to be in direct contact with an
object in order to be applied.

1. Gravitational Force- force on Earth’s interaction with people, animals, and


objects.

2. Magnetic force- is an attraction force usually associated with electrical


currents and magnets.

1. The students will fill out the concept map

DIFFERENT KINDS OF FORCES

6. Evaluation

The students will have a quiz.

The teacher will give examples the students will identify what kind of force being
applied on the given examples.
