Q1-What is a drop cap in MS-Word? Why do we use it?

Ans-Drop cap means the first letter of the first word of a paragraph that is displayed in a large font.
Drop cap adds a decorative to the document and it quickly draws the attention of the reader.

Q2- What are subscripts and superscripts? Explain with examples.

Ans- A superscript means any number, letter or symbol that appears a little above the normal line of
text and displayed in a reduced font size. For example, st, nd and rd are superscript in 1st ,2nd and 3rd
respectively. Whereas a subscript is any number, letter or symbol that appears a little below the
normal line of text in reduced font size. For example, 2 is the subscript in CO2 .

Q3-What is the difference between first line indentation and hanging indentation?

Ans-The first line indent features the first line of the paragraph only. In hanging indent, the first line
of the paragraph is not indented, but the rest of the lines in paragraph are indented. Hanging indents
are used for numbered and bulleted lists.

Q4- Define indentation. What are its different types? Name each.

Ans-Indentation means the space left between the margin and the start of the paragraph. There are
different types of indentations. Left indent, Right Indent, First line indent and Hanging indent.

Q5-What do you know about text alignment? Also describe its types.

Ans- Alignment means how text is placed between the margins. There are various types of alignments.

1- Left Aligned: - Text is aligned to the left margin and the right edge is uneven.
2- Center Aligned: -Text is centered between the margins, both left and right edges are uneven.
3- Right Aligned: -Text is aligned to the right margin and the left edge is uneven.
4- Justified: -Spaces between words are adjusted to give even left and right edges.

Q6-Define page orientation and its modes.

Ans- Page orientation refers to the direction used to view or print a document. It specifies whether
the printing will be done lengthwise or widthwise. Orientation can be in the Portrait or Landscape
mode.

Portrait mode means the vertical edge of the page is longer than its horizontal edge. In Landscape
mode the horizontal edge of the page is longer than its vertical edge.

Q7-What is the difference between paragraph spacing and line spacing.

Ans-Paragraph spacing is used to add extra space above the first line of the paragraph and below the
last line. Line spacing is the space between each line of a paragraph. In other words, it determines the
amount of vertical spaces between lines of text in a paragraph.

Q8- Write down the steps to format text in columns.

Ans-

1) Select the text you want to format in columns


2) Click on the Page Layout tab. Under the Page Setup group ,Click on the Columns dropdown
3) Choose the more column options. A dialog box opens
4) In the column dialog box select/enter the number of columns according to your requirement
5) Under width and spacing, enter the width and spacing between in the width and spacing box
respectively.
6) To get the columns of equal width, click Equal Width Column checkbox
7) Click on the Ok button

Ans- She should follow the steps given below:

1) Type the text for equation


2) Select the text she wants to format as superscript (2 in above equation).To select all the 2s in
this equation together, select the first 2. Hold down the CTRL key and highlight the other 2.
3) From the Home tab, in the Font group of commands click on X2 to get the superscript.
