SOGIE BILL is an act that recognizes the fundamental right of a person regardless of gender,

culture, class and vows to protect the rights of an individual against discrimination towards

Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity or Expression. It seeks equality between all types of gender.

In my own understanding about SOGIE Bill is its encompassing term that includes not only the

LGBTQIA+ but even the straights. These past few months I have seen and hear a lot of news and

opinions about the LGBT community. There was a Pride March in Ateneo De Manila and a rather

controversial reaction from a religious group. There was the Metro Manila Pride March, with

thousands of people braving the rains to celebrate and protest. And everyone had an opinion

about Gretchen Diez, the transgender woman who was treated harshly by a janitress in a

Quezon City mall. Because of all of these, there has been a lot of discussion about solving

discrimination against the LGBTQIA, through a SOGIE Bill.

"I think the issue of Gretchen Diez is misrepresenting what SOGIE bill is really all about. In

my opinion she is overcompensating for the treatment towards her in the bathroom issue," said

LeAnn Palisoc, Columns Editor of the Louisian Newsette.

If it's all about aquality of all preferences, genders and humanity, I'm all in for SOGIE BILL. This

is very essential not only for the LGBTQIA+ community but also on the entire nation of the

Philippines, why? Because I do believe and according to what I've red about this bill, it will

lessen the number of discrimination here in the Philippines if it would be approved. If we only

see what kind of society we have, maybe you will realize that we need it. By this anti-

discrimination bill will protect rights of each every citizens or every person regardless sexual
orientation. As a Filipino citizen I see what our society needs, a bill that will protect everyone to

work, study and lived without discrimination. If we look in tha past, there's a lot of people that

cannot find a decent job just because of their gender.

SOGIE Bill does not overshadow the rights of others. I suggest people should read the bill first

before basing their opinions on random people, especially in facebook to gatner information. I

know that everyone should have a stand in any social issues, and of course nobody should or

wanted to be self-privileged in giving their perspectives, just pleasee study your stand and every

opinions that comes out from your mind, and never commit smart-shaming.

The SOGIE Bill, it became a very hot issue because it's trending, many netizens gave their

opinion however there are these some that seems to be blinded of the real essence and

provisions of the bill yet gave their opinion and courageously demands respect.Just because you

have an opinion that bill doesn't make you equally right. Some opinions are more well-informed

and more substantial than others. Your opinion will always be subject to criticism so stop playing

the respect. This blli proposed to protect every individual from any discriminatory act. This bill is

not limited to one person or group of persons, but it has a broad that can protect one from all

forms of discriminations, to protect everyone’s dignity and rights including women and children

regardless of their race and orientation.

 "Then why is it difficult to accept SOGIE bill that is meant to protect everyone from

discrimination by simply you are this particular gender?" For me, hat bill does not enforce that

people should be gay or whatsoever just like how some people continuously enforce that there

is only two gender. What they dont understand is that, SOGIE BILL doesn't just fight for the

equality of the LGBTQ community, but also fights for the equality of all genders including male

and female. Even a Nun supported this bill. SOGIE bill is for people who just want to exist

according to their SOGIE without being discriminated, nothing more that violates religions and

personal beliefs. Those people who live a great life and accepted regardless of their race and

gender shouldn't be meddling and against about this bill. Not because you live a beautiful life,

doesn't mean you have right to invalidate others struggles.
