A. CONTENT STANDARDS The learner acquires knowledge of appropriate
reading strategies for a better understanding of
academic texts.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS The learner produces a detailed abstract of
information gathered from the various academic
texts read.
C. LEARNING At the end of the lesson the learners should be able

Activity Activity 1: PICTURE TELL


The teacher will show a picture of a doctor, a
lawyer, a poet, an embalmer and a reporter. Then
the teacher will ask the students to compare these
three professions in the context of language use.

Activity 2: GROUP ACTIVITY


The teacher will group the class into 5. Each
group will be given a copy of a text. The students
will read the text and select a reporter. The
reporter will discuss on what they have observed
about the text.

in medicine, journalism, legal, fiction and

Application
The teacher will just have the same
groupings in the first activity. At this time, the
students will present or perform the selection
given to them in a creative way.
