SeeSaw can be used as an app or web-based which means it is accessible to everyone. I have
found this tool has helped my ākonga to be more reflective by sharing their work and talking
about their learning. It enables them to create and show what they understand and this helps
me with future planning. There are many different options for ākonga to share their work,
they can use voice recordings, take videos or photos which means they can show and be
proud of their diverse differences. SeeSaw links to the New Zealand Curriculum through
participating and contributing by giving whānau the opportunity to be involved in their
children’s learning (MoE, 2007).

A hyperdoc is a single document where ākonga are provided with hyperlinks to all of the
resources they need to enhance and/or strengthen their learning (Gonzalex, J., 2017).
Because learning is more self-directed ākonga feel ownership which in turn creates greater
confidence through managing their own learning. This links with the New Zealand Curriculum
key competency of managing self which promotes enterprise, being resourceful, reliable and
resilient (MoE, 2007). Teachers can include activities to cater for all learning needs within
their learning community but hyperdocs also create more time for them to spend one-on-one
with ākonga that require extra assistance.

Padlet is an app that lets ākonga post notes onto a digital wall. It can be used in so many ways
within our learning environments, including looking at ākonga understanding pre and post
topic, brainstorming or predicting what might happen next (Miller, M. 2014). Padlet gives
ākonga the opportunity to participate without fear because their work is attached without a
name. This provides an inclusive learning environment. There is also the opportunity to add
videos, images and links to your posts and there is an option to return later with more ideas.
Ākonga have the ability to practice the key competency of thinking by reflecting on their own
learning and making decisions about future learning (MoE, 2007).

Powtoon enables ākonga to create amazing videos and presentations that look professional.
They provide easy tutorials to follow that show the options of adding the many characters,
backgrounds and images. You can also record your own voice or download your own choices
from the internet. It could be used many different ways within our learning environments
from introducing yourself to promoting a product or business. I really liked that the character
options came from different cultures which ensures all our diverse learners feel they are
included within our learning environment. Through using Powtoon our ākonga get to practice
the key competency of using language, symbols and texts through being able to use written,
oral and visual options in their presentations (MoE, 2007).
