First at all, give thanks for God’s love and grace for us. Thanks to God for helping
us and give us chance to finish this assighment timely. And I would like to say thank you
to Mrs. Linda Safitri, S. Pd, M. Pd, as the lecturer that always teaches us and give much
knowledge about English.

This assignment is the one of English tasks that telling about Time and Condition.
I realized this assignment is not so perfect. But I hope it can be useful for us. Critics and
suggestion is needed here to make this assignment be better.

Hopefully we as a student in “IAIN Fattahul Muluk - Papua” can do all of the


tasks correctly.

INTRODUCTION
A. Background
Telling the time and conditional sentences are important things in
English. We must understand well about how to tell the time correctly and
make conditional sentences to express a condition. Discussing and sharing
to increase our knowledge especially about telling the time and condition
they Make us can identify if our structure in English is wrong so that, we
can improve be better.
Learning how to tell the time and express condition are important
for everyone because we will get trouble if we do not know to tell and
express the time and condition then, we will study how to tell and express
the time and condition.

DISCUSSION
A. Time Vocabulary

English skills will not improve if not honed. According to proverbs; if knife
has never been sharpened, it will blunt over time. There are many ways that can
be done to improve English skills, one of which is actively study and memorize a
variety of vocabulary or English vocabulary. Studying and memorizing English
vocabulary will increase amount of vocabulary we know. This will make it easier
for us to make tenses in writing and conversation.

Vocabulary list that you can ask about the day, month, and time in English.
All forms of time about the time we often encounter in everyday conversation so
use the vocabulary time - the name of day, month and the time of English related
to time will make it easier for you to try multiply sentence.

 2 week in a fortnight, 24 hours in day
 60 minutes in an hour , 60 seconds in a minute

The form of vocabulary about time is very often we encounter in English


conversation. Just for example in adverbs stating time (time adverb), such as
tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, yesterday, last year. This time adverb will also
affect the type of tenses used in the sentence. Therefore, memorizing vocabulary
about all things related to time will certainly increase your ability in English.

 After = setelah
 Afternoon = sore hari siang menjelang sore hari
 Afterwards = setelahnya
 Alarm Clock = jam alarm
 Analog clock = jam analog
 Annual = tahunan, setahun sekali
 Ante Meridian (AM) = Dari pukul 12 malam hingga pukul 12 pagi.
 Anytime = kapan saja
 Bedtime = waktunya tidur

 Twilight = senjakala
 Wristwatch = jam tangan
 Yesteryear = tahun lalu

Therefore, memorizing vocabulary about all things related to time will certainly
increase your ability in English.

B. Condition Related to Emotion and Feeling

The vocabulary list that we will discuss this time is about everything related
to someone's feelings and emotions, namely Emotion and feeling vocabulary or
the form of feelings in English. Feelings and emotions mean what is felt and the
emotional form of a person. For example, such as disappointment, excitement,
fear, courage, affection, not caring, and so on.

The vocabulary list that you will study this time is presented in the form of
nouns and adjectives. These forms of feelings and emotions are commonly used in
expressing our opinions and feelings towards something that we think about.

 Anger

1. Angry

"Angry" means "Mad". Angry is the simplest form of expressing mad.

Example:

Talking to Jim always ends up making me angry.

(Berbicara dengan Jim selalu berujung membuatku marah)

2. Mad

"Mad" also has the same meaning as "angry", it's just that "mad" is classified
as informal and it is more often used in daily conversation.

Example:

We were so mad with that girl. She used to be so rude to us.

(Kami marah pada gadis itu. Dia amat kasar kepada kami)

3. Annoyed

"Annoyed" has the meaning "Irritated" or similar emotion caused by


interference from a thing or someone else.

Example:

I don’t want to sit with Terry anymore. I’m totally annoyed.

(Aku tidak mau duduk dengan Terry lagi. Aku sangat kesal)

4. Irritated

"Irritated" is not so much different from "annoyed", which is a condition


where a kind of emotional upset or annoyance arises because of a disturbance.

Example:

Listening to his speech always gets me irritated.

(Mendengarkan pidaotonya selalu membuatku jengkel)

5. Prickly

When someone is "prickly", then he is an angry and sensitive person, and


always gives a negative or bad reaction to others.

Example:

I would rather stay away from my sister. She’s being prickly today.

(Aku lebih memilih menjauhi kakakku. Dia sedang sensitif hari ini)

6. Touchy

The word "touchy" describes the condition of feeling, where someone


becomes sensitive in interpreting whatever we say and responds with a bad
attitude.

Example:

Why is he so touchy? I only said that he should not come late too often and
now he’s blocked my number.

(Mengapa dia sangat perasa? Aku hanya mengatakan bahwa dia seharusnya
tidak terlalu sering datang terlambat, dan sekarang ia memblokir nomorku)

7. Upset

Feelings of "upset" shows resentment or anger that peaked so that makes


someone want to cry.

Example:

Reza is so upset knowing her boyfriend she’s been dating for two years
cheated on her.

(Reza sangat marah mengetahui kekasihnya yang sudah dipacari selama dua
tahun selingkuh)

8. Furious

"Furious" is a synonym of "very angry" or shows too angry or wrath.

Example:

My grandmother is always furious to see people littering.

(Nenekku selalu murka melihat orang-orang membuang sampah


sembarangan)

9. (to) Blow one’s top

This idiom shows that the subject loses control of his emotions to yell at
others.

Example:

I don’t know what happened to Emily but she blew her top today.

(Aku tidak tahu apa yang terjadi pada Emily tapi dia marah-marah hari ini)

 Fear

1. Afraid

The word "afraid" shows fear mixed with worry, including phobias.

Example:

I’m afraid of heights, I’m always shaking just to step on the stairs.

(Aku takut ketinggian, aku selalu gemetaran saat menaiki tangga)

2. Scared

"Scared" shows fear as in general, it's just more used for everyday or
informal conversation.

Example:

I’m always scared that somebody is watching me silently while I am


sleeping.

(Aku selalu takut seseorang memandangiku diam-diam ketika aku


sedang tidur)

3. Frightened

Showing fear in general.

Example:

Horror movies always get me frightened.

(Film horor selalu membuatku ketakutan)

4. Timorous

“Timorous” is a timid and timid nature of a person.

Example:

I used to be so timorous that I never left my seat during lunch break.

(Aku dulu sangat penakut sampai-sampai aku tidak pernah


meninggalkan kursiku selama istirahat makan siang)

5. Terrified

"Terrified" Shows the utmost fear.

Example:

The news about school shooting makes parents terrified.

(Berita tentang penembakan di sekolah-sekolah membuat para orangtua


ketakutan)

6. Spooked

"Spooked" Is a fear associated with ghosts.

Example:

Looks like my little sister is spooked; she keeps crying.

(Sepertinya adikku sedang ketakutan; dia terus-terusan menangis)

 Confusion

1. Confused

The simplest form to indicate a "confused" condition.

Example:

Her explanation always makes me confused.

(Penjelasannya selalu membuatku bingung)

2. Puzzled

Synonyms of "confused", are widely used to indicate confusion in the face of


difficult questions or problems.

Example:

I give up on this quiz. I’m puzzled.

(Aku menyerah dengan kuis ini. Aku bingung)

3. Muddled

"Muddled" Indicates fatigue or cloudy thoughts, difficult to think.

Example:

I can’t work well when I’m muddled.

(Aku tidak bisa bekerja dengan baik ketika pikiranku sedang keruh)

4. Feeling lost, lost

"Lost" Indicates confusion because of not being able to follow the topic of
discussion.

Example:

What is the movie about? I’m lost.

(Tentang apakah filmnya? Aku bingung)

5. Out of one’s depth

An idiom which states that the subject does not understand the topic of
discussion because it is not his area of expertise.

Example:

Don’t talk to me in German. That’s out of my depth.

(Jangan berbicara denganku dalam bahasa Jerman. Aku tidak begitu


paham)

A. Conclution

Vocabulary list that you can ask about the day, month, and time in
English. All forms of time about the time we often encounter in everyday
conversation so use the vocabulary time - the name of day, month and the time of
English related to time will make it easier for you to try multiply sentence.
Especially, words that use for expressing emotions and felling condition will
make you easier to increase your English.

B. Suggestion

We should understand how to use vocabulary when we are going to talk


about time and emotions and feeling. We should not only understand the meaning
but we also should understand what is the correct role for using the words.
