ABSTRACT
Situ Gintung is one of situs in Jakarta that was build in 1932 by the Government of
Netherlands East Indies. Situ Gintung’s pool area is about 31 hectares initially, but in
2009 the pool area decreased until 21,4 hectares. The depth of Situ Gintung is 10 meters
with 2.1 million cubic meters of basin capacity. The length of the dam is of 200 meters,
the spillway is in the middle of the dam and the width of spillway is 5 meters. Situ
Gintung is an earth dam. In March 29, 2009 Situ Gintung collapsed and caused hundred
peoples die and property loss in the downstream area.
The simulation of the flood was done by using BOSS FESWMS software in 2D
manner. The simulation was set up to various n-Manning values from 0.022 – 0.125. The
values of Manning’s coefficient application depend on the condition of Situ Gintung’s.
The area between the dams until the downstream end of the reach under consideration is
of various kind of land coverage. Because of that situation, in the computation the area is
categorized into several zones with 5 categories. They are situ, residential, channel,
paddy field, and civil garden. The n Manning’s Roughness coefficients for the zones
respectively are 0.035, 0.125, 0.022, 0.040 and 0.080. The result shows that the maximum
changes of velocity occur in the 1st zones. The average figure are by lowering n
Manning’s coefficient decrease the velocity 6.36% and increasing n Manning’s
coefficient by raising the velocity 3.70%. In the breach zones, the velocity was increase
14.24% by lowering n Manning’s coefficient 0.005 and also increases 12.60% by raising
n Manning’s Value. The maximum changes of water depth and water surface also occur
in the 1st zones. At the other zones, the changes seem to be reasonable. The sensitivity
analysis for turbulence parameter was done by changing the base kinematic viscosity
(νo). It observed along several cross section and longitudinal axis. The result of the
simulation sowed that along the middle of longitudinal section, the velocities increase
14.93% by lowering νo but the velocity decrease 2.82 % by raising νo. The result of the
simulation showed that along the cross section, the velocity increase 30.49 % by lowering
νo and decrease 0.007% by raising νo.
The velocity is sensitive to n Manning roughness coefficient variations but less
sensitive to water depth and water surface elevation and the 1 st zone (situ and breach
dam zone) is the most sensitive. The result of the simulation along the middle of
longitudinal section, the base kinematic eddy viscosity is appears to be sensitive to the
velocity but not sensitive to the water depth. The result of simulation along the cross
section, the base kinematic eddy viscosity is appears to be sensitive to the velocity and
water depth by lowering νo but not sensitive when raising νo.
