Tell me about yourself?

I am Shivam Mittal. I have completed my graduation in May. I come from a middle class family in
Indore, my father is an entrepreneur/proprietor and manufacture notebooks under our name,
understanding and discussing with him, that’s where my first fascination for business education
came in. My mother is a housewife, but she aspires to start her business soon. I had an aptitude for
mathematics from very beginning of my education. I like to cook frequently, sometimes through
various recipes but mostly on my own. I play cricket and watch a lot of cricket, whether it be club
cricket, t20 leagues of different countries or international cricket. I personally also like to watch
suspense, thriller, and mystery and heist movies and TV shows.

WHY MBA?

Sir/Ma’am, an MBA will help me to develop and hone the knowledge and skills that I possess,
courtesy my high school and graduation study. I got to read and learn about some subjects which
generated my interest and there are other aspects to it which I would like to explore and
understand. Pursuing MBA will acquaint me with the world of business deeply and also provide
exposure to more convoluted business problems through case studies, projects and with industrial
interaction. An exposure to industry stalwarts, various live projects and case studies laid on a
structured CAREER is what I was looking forth and hence an MBA Is a platform to reinforce my
strengths and work around my areas of improvement to contribute to the society at large and to the
organisation I would be working with.

Learning in the company of peers from the different educational and cultural backgrounds would
indeed widen my horizons and prepare me for the corporate domain and for life too. Also seeing my
father running his own business for a long time and learning from his past experiences, I always had
a knack for business. But I didn’t want to just join his business straight, I first wanted to learn and
gain useful insights of different business aspects and have knowledge about the know-how of
business structure, which really helped me in landing my decision of doing an MBA.

Deeper insight into discipline of your career choice, networking opportunities, cultural exposure,

I learned that an important part of being a manager is developing vision, knowing not only what your
business unit is doing next month but also what you think it should do three years from now. The job
requires developing a road-map and setting milestones that will lead to long-term objective while
keeping short-term goals in mind. Knowledge gained through courses like “Global Strategy and
Implementation” and “Top Management Teams” will allow me to take these considerations into
account, balancing it with reality.

Why SIBM-Pune?

Sir/Ma’am ,

I have been a part of several teams at my college, where I was provided with opportunities of
undertaking different roles, through which I learnt that you learn much more and much faster when
you interact with people.
Why not fathers business?

Sir actually running my father’s business is not what I was looking forth because I want to know your
broad knowledge and vision to grow business different. Learning
