Sampling Plan

“Sampling is the process to analyze the whole population by analyzing a part of it.”

The effectiveness of the report depends on the sample size selected from the population.

Sampling Unit :
Here, target population is decided who are the actual and potential investors, each

sample has the chance to be selected on an equal basis & this research has been conducted

through surveying the whole of the equity market of Jammu city. In the context of the

project study, the sampling unit primarily consists of Individuals who may be Businessmen,

Professional, Government employee, Employees working in the private firm and other

persons.

Sampling Size :
It plays an important role in the research. Samples are representative of the whole population.
This refers to the no. of items to be selected from the universe to constitute a sample.

In the context of the project study, 75 respondents are chosen keeping in view the above
constrains. Attempts have being made to see that samples are chosen from different strategies.

Sampling frame :
Sampling frame is the actual set of units from which a sample has been drawn. In

sampling frame, I have used simple random sampling method for conducting survey. In a

simple random sample ('SRS') all units from the sampling frame have an equal chance to be

drawn and to occur in the sample.

Here, I have used sampling frame as an actual and potential investors from Sharekhan
Securities Pvt. Ltd. Here, each sample has the chance to be selected on an equal basis because I
have used simple random sampling method for surveying purpose.
Objective of Study (research)

Every study is conducted within for some specific purpose or to solve some problem.
When any research is conducted it has some primary objective that helps to solve the main
problem whereas a secondary objective helps to solve peripheral problems. The primary and
secondary objectives of this research are:

Primary Objectives
 To study the “consumer behavior toward online trading in stock market”.

Secondary Objectives

 To study trading frequency through online trading

 To study investment decision making in online trading
 To study over all influence of online trading to the security market.
LIMITATIONS

 This exploratory research is done in the Bakshi Nagar branch of Sharekhan only and
therefore findings and suggestion given on the basis of this research and cannot be
considered for the entire security market of Jammu.

 Due to limitation of time and cost constrains, a sample size of only 50 respondents was
chosen.

 Data analysis and interpretation done may not be that strong due to small sample and
random sampling method.

 And also the views of respondents of Jammu towards online trading may not reflect the
overall scenario.

 Respondents taken for the study were from the Sharekhan, therefore true picture of the
stock broking companies can also not be seen from the study.
