Pre-Cleaner / Sand
Cyclones
Pre-Cleaner / Sand Cyclone is used for sand
and particle removal from process liquids
such as crude palm oil / sludge oil. It is
installed before a separator, decanter or other
process machines to provide pretreatment
and to avoid excessive wear. With the amount
of sand present in the palm oil sludge, the
sand cyclone installed will have big impact
and reduce total maintenance cost in mill.

The crude palm oil / sludge oil is feed through

the horizontal inlet pipe of the cyclone via a
feed pump. The feed liquid enters the cyclone
tangentially under pressure. As a result of
centrifugal force, the solid particles move
inwards towards the center vortex of the
conical section of the cyclone and recovered
at the apex by gravity flows. The collected
sand in the dirt receiver is periodically purged
off at a pre-set time intervals and the dirt
receiver is flushed off with water.

Material
The top section is made of stainless steel 316
and the lower cone section is made of high
abrasion resistant ceramic material covered
by black phoulerethene to prevent fragile.
Dirt receiver is made of fully stainless steel
and with two (2) sight glass for inspection
during operation.

Standard Equipment
Automatic timed feed shut off and flushing of
dirt receiver by air actuated valve. Control
cabinet for startup and operation. Complete
module system ready for operation.

Capacity
Up to 30 m3/h (on palm oil sludge)

Technical Data & Installation

- Pressure drop:2 barg
- Max. Feed pressure: 4.5 barg
The pump must be correctly sized to provide
the required flow and pressure to the sand
cyclone i.e. at the capacity through the sand
cyclone must be always maintained and not
less than 30 m3/h
