Assalam-u-Alaikum Dowites’20 … hope you all are well and I hope guyz have done
great in your LOCOMOTOR MODULE ( I hope so ;-) )… May you all pass with flying
colors

Coming to the module……. Respo is one interesting module. And its pretty easy as
compare to locomotor module. Since it’s also a less integrated module I’ ll
recommend subject wise study but I ll suggest you go in systematic way as I
suggest below.

MAJORS: ANATOMY,PHYSIOLOGY,PATHOLOGY.
MINORS: HISTOLOGY,EMBRYOLOGY,BIOCHEM,PHARMACOLOGY,MICRO.
IGNORED: COMMUNITY MEDICINE,BEHAVORIAL SCIENCES.
SUBJECT WISE
DESCRPTION
AND SYLLABUS
NOW lets go thru subject wise and the syllabus

ANATOMY:
Syllabus for Anatomy is again very simple.
It’s the whole
THORAX (except Middle Medistinum topic that you will be doing in CVS )
And fortunately this time simplicity doesn’t ends here. This anatomy is very easy and less as
compare to locomotor module. The area to be more focused on this time is RELATIONSHIPs of
different structures with eachother. Very important because in thorax many of the vital
structures and their vasculature are present. Hence their relations are to be done properly.
Do see netter’s atlas for all this.
WHAT BOOK TO USE FOR ANATOMY ?
I guess you guys now have a answer for this question 

MY RECOMMENDATION:

You should use whatever book suits u the best and I hope uptil now I am sure that you guys
know that which book u can tolerate the most ( ;-) )
But I will say the best book for the whole thoracic region is RJ LAST. This book is thorax
special. Though it is one difficult book but once you are done with it anatomy shall be pretty
easy for. This book emphasizes on relationships a lot and as I mentioned relations are very
important this module hence I recommend this book.
But this book is pretty much difficult to do in first read. So what I did was I used grays anatomy
first so I got an idea along with good illustrations then I did RJ LAST and it felt easy.
SEEING NETTER’S ATLAS IS MUST (whatever book u use atlas)
for ANS anatomy stick with lectures and DR NAheed’s Lectures esp.

HISTOLOGY:
like always … very easy and is very less this time
u have to do chapters
only one chapter
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM.

This chapter is important as OSPE do come from it.

MY RECOMMENDATION:
like always use LAIQ HUSSAIN HISTOLOGY the best of all.

EMBRYOLOGY:
Its again pretty halki this module …. You being these chapters.
-Axial skeleton ( ribs and sternum this time)
- the body cavities and diaphragm ( remember I asked u guys not to do one chapter in general
embryology in your foundation module. It is the same chapter)
-Respiratory system.

MY RECOMMENDATION:
I used Langman’s embryology for it and it was okay … you can also use KLM if you want
baqi topics k liye go lectures.

BIOCHEMISTRY:
Its again very easy and minor this module.
chapters include:
Chapter 3 –globular proteins (review)

Baqi you will be doing miscellenous topics that are not in books. They are no rocket science just
see the lectures they mainly include ; Arterial Blood Gases, Metabolic and respiratory
acidosis/alkalosis and etc.

MY RECOMMENDATION:
Lippincott Is best no need for any other book (for chapter 3)
baqi chezon k liye go for Lecture outlines

PHYSIOLOGY:
physio is again very pakao this module with pakao level increased but its very very important
esp for the module test.
chapters include :
there are 2 units of physio to be done wholly.
they are unit VII and VIII
that makes chapter no 37- 44 from guyton
baqi u ll have POWER LABS THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE DO ATTEND THEM.

MY RECOMMENDATION:
only book :P GUYTON :D though horribly pakao but again the best.
all lectures of physiology are very important this semester esp the power labs walay Qs do come
from them.
and focus on graphs from guyton this module … they might give u as OSPE.
physiology comprised a large share in my Module.
unit 8 is very very very very pakao. Its about aviation physiology and deep see diving ( and you
feel like you are drowning your self). This whole unit they teach in one lecture. So just give it a
jet review and do the lecture. Few terms are important in it. Correlate with L/Os.
no need to do chapter 60 again just cover it from lectures.

PATHOLOGY:
for pathology there is only one chapter that is to be done.
Acc to old basis it Is
chapter 15: THE LUNG
this whole chapter is to done except for chronic interstitial restrictive diseases
and unfortunately you guys have to do Tumors and cancer of this chapter. They are important
but u don’t need to go in extra details.
along with this chapter there is one more topic
MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS in chapter 7 infectious diseases.
just TB topic to be done nothing else.

MY RECOMMENDATION:
I used BASIS and it was as always horrible yet good :P for the tumors and cancers of lung u can
also opt for pathoma or basic ( I used basic). They are important.
(for pneumonia topic name of organism are very important as they are asked as bcqs and in viva
too. That basis wala table for organisms is to be memorize).
baqi if u use BASIC only no harm In that too
PATHOMA VIDEOS recommended.
Pathology very important for semester.

PHARMACOLOGY:
Ahhhhhh … pharma of this semester was suppose to be easy till they added ANS pharmacology
in it. ( and I tell you I don’t hate any topic more than ANS, so if u feel like killing yourself while
doing it. there is nothing wrong).
so this ANS thing they added made pharma a bit horrible. Chapters to be done

-Whole of ANS pharmacology. Yes the whole unit.

- respiratory drugs (this include all drugs to be used in COPD, asthma, cough, rhinitis etc)
-Quinolones and Macrolides (you have done it blood module, just give it a quick review)
-ANTI Mycobacterials ( this time who have to do it with whole of the detail. Just anti TB ,
leprosy is not to be done).
for LIPPINCOTT its chapter 27,32(only macrolides),33(onlu quinolones),34(only Anti TB).
for katzung review its chapter 19,20,44(only macrolides),(45only quinolones), 47( only anti
TB)
MY RECOMMENDATION:
okay for the actual respo pharmacology I ll suggest doing it from both books.
because there some drugs that aren’t mentioned only in katzung. If less time atleast do those
tables at end of chapter in KATZUNG review.
okay for ANS, as per my experience and what I gained from seniors it never ever comes but but
but since changing pattern ( as your biochem came and some Qs come in neuro thy paper) I will
strongly suggest u to not keep this topic un touched. Do it from either kaztung or Lippincott
( I ll suggest katzung though) but PLEASE DON’T LEAVE IT OR ANYOTHER TOPIC PLEASE.
if you don’t have time cover it from lectures but please do it.
Lectures as always are compulsory for pharma. Esp the ANTITUSSIVES DRUGS are to be done
from L/Os.

MICROBIOLOGY:
yes we have a tiny winy microbiology this module.
it include:
-MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS
-agents in comm acquired pneumonia.

in levinson its chapter21 of unit:clinical bacteriology. You only have to do TUBERCULOSIS. You
don’t have to do leprosy
for the second topic I ll suggest that there is no need to do it from book. Cover it from l/o.
details will be covered in pathology.

COMMUNITY MEDICINE AND B.SCIENCE:

this quite sums up the subject wise description and syllabus. You must have got the topic wise
syllabus by now. If not get it from Naved’s shop
please do get it.
 HOW TO STUDY
RESPIRATORY MODULE
I have pretty much summed up the study pattern with the description just few more points

1-for anatomy I will again say relations are important… neurovascular structures,
spaces and their boundaries are like favourites for viva and semesters and module
too.

2-I ll recommend you to get done with histo and embryo first… in histology ….
Learn to differentiate on basis of histological differences … this is asked in paper
and viva.
4-after you are done with histo +embryo … get done with biochem
and try to end all 3 of ‘em in less than a week

5- after you are done with the three go for anatomy. It will take 5 days to the max.
try doing it with 4 days though.

6- once your are done with anatomy you will be in half of week 2. Start with
physiology then. Physiology is very very pakao hence it might take 5 days.

7- once you are done with physio u shall be in your week 3. In this week get done
with patho,pharma (excluding ANS) and micro.
8- for purpose of maximum understanding I’ll suggest to keep TB topics ( i.e its
patho, micro and pharma) for the end. Once you are done with remaining start
with micro of TB then go for pharma and then patho. This will make the whole TB
thing more clear.

9- and for the purpose less tension I will suggest to keep the ANS topic ( i.e its
anatomy ,physio and pharma ) for the very end. Get done with ana and physio
first then go for ANS.

10- evry day take our half hr to 45 min and give a read to the Day lecture and note
down important points from it. This helps a lot at the end

10- try to end your syllabus within 3 weeks. We had this module of 5 weeks but to
be on safe side consider it of 4 weeks , moreover those who haven’t completed
their loco syllabus should do it along with this module or else you ll have a lot
stress in the end (personal experience)

this pretty much sums up my document .. I hope this helps you guys .. remember this may
seems too much but once u start it u ll be able to do it before the expected time. This is not
difficult at all but don’t waste your time EVEN SEMESTERS flies on f-16 and u don’t realise and
it ends and this makes things very difficult in the end (personal experience)

IMPORTANT NOTE:
First of all apologies from my side for uploading the guidelines very late. I was
busy as I had my module. But during this whole period I came to know one thing
that was a bit disappointing. I came to know that many people among were saying
,”KHIZER BHAI ap syllabus aur guidelines kab dalyngay humnay to apkay
intezzaar mai abhi tak parrhna he nai shuru kia.” And some saying ,”jab khizer
bhai syllabus dalyngay hum jab hi parrhna shuru karyngay”.
to beta ye bohat he buri adat hai. Matlab ap main sy kaafi saaron ny parrhna he
shuru nai kia aur is chakkar mai aik poora hafta zaya kardia. Mera ap logo ko
GUIDE LINES denay ka maqsad ye hota hai k ap logo ko asaan rahy parrhnay mai
aur ap logo ka time zaya nai ho ye dhundnay mai k kia aur kesy parrhna hai lekin
LAKEER KA FAQEER banana har giz nai hai. Ap logo ko koi problem hai
academic/extra ya non academic ap mujh sy 1000 dafa pucho main jawab dunga
leikin spood feeding har giz nai karsakta. Even mery module k sy aik din pehly bhi
logo ny mjhy msg karkay pucha to mainy sab ko sab chezein bta dyn. Lekin agar
aesa ho k mery module ki raat ko fb pr msg aya k ;” khizer bhai respo mai
anatomy mai kia karna ,mainay kaha thorax except middle mediastinum, to
uskay baad mery paas msg ka reply aya k khizer bhai aap mujhy KLM k pages
mark kar k batdyn k kia kia karna hai -_- “ Is adat ko khatam karo as ap
professional life mai ho agay jakr ye sab Nai mileiga. Koi cheez smjh nai arhi baar
baar pucho seniors ka farz hota hai juniors ki help karna aur mujhy bht khushi hoti
hai ap sab k help karkay lekin ye sab jo batein hayn agar ye hngy to mujhy lgeiga k
meri help spoon feeding bn rhy hai aur ye ap sab k saath dushmani hgy.
to I hope ab main aesi koi baat nai sunun k hum ny guidelines k intezaar mai nai
parrha. Atleast jo smjh arha wo to parrha ja sakta hai  20 4 GPA wala batch hai
apka bhai MA Shaa Allah AUR YE choti baat nai hai.
