SUBJECT: AMENDMENTS TO JOINTDTI-DAADMINISTRATIVE ORDER

NO. 10-02,SERIESOF 2010(JAO 1A-02,s. 2010)GRANTING
SPECIAL DISCOUNTSTO SENIOR CITIZENSON THE
PURCHASE OF BASIC NECESSITIES AND PRIME
COMMODITIES

WHEREAS,Section2(a) ot JAO 10-02s.2010listedfresh, dried and

canned fish and other marine products as basicnecessityand Section2(b)
of JAO 10-02s.2011listedcannedsardines,tuna and geriatricdiapers as
primecommodities discountprivilege;
and entitlea seniorcitizento a 5o/o

WHEREAS,"cannedsardinesand tuna" and "cannedfish and other

marineproducts"are one and the same itemsentitledto 5o/odiscount,while
"geriatricdiapers"are now listedas essentialmedicalsupplyentitledto 2Ao/o
discountandVAT exemption;

WHEREAS,the weeklylimitationof Phpl,300.00purchasesconsisting

of a total of four (4) items must applyto both basic necessitiesand prime
commodities;

WHEREAS,thereis a needto clarifythe relevantsectionsof JAO 10-

02, Seriesof 2010for the purposeas statedabove;

NOW, THEREFORE,pursuantto Sectiona fi) of RepublicAct No.

9994,the followingOrderis herebyprescribedfor the information,
guidance
and complianceof all concerned:

Section 1. Section2(b) of JAO 10-02,s.2010on the list of prime

commodities, ltem number5 on "cannedsardines,tuna"and ltem number9
on "geriatric
diapers"are herebydeleted.

Section2. Section3 is herebyamendedto readas follows:

"Section 3. Discount - Everysenior citizenshall enjoy a

specialdiscountof five percent(5%) of the regularretail price,
without exemption from the value added-tax (VAT), of basic
necessities and primecommodities listedunderSection2 (a) and
(b) of this Order.The total amountof said purchaseshall not
exceedthe amountof OneThousandThreeHundredPesos(PhP

1,300.00)per calendarweek withoutcarry over of the unused

amount.Provided,that the said amountshall be spent on items
listedunderSection2(a) and (b) of this Ordercommensurate to
his/her personaland exclusiveconsumptionand/or enjoyment
withinthe calendarweek. Provided,further that said amount
shall be spent on at least four (4) kinds of items listed under
SECTION2(A)AND SECTION2(B) [Section2(a[ of this Order.

Section3. This Order shall take effect upon its publicationin a

newspaperof generalcirculation.Three(3) copiesof this Ordershallbe sent 6
