increasing, as water is
critical determinant of human survival we observed the available water resource and the need are mismatched because of limited
Number of Shallow wells, luck of maintenance of existing Shallow wells and the effect of Dry season.
METHODOLOGY
Pump testing
No pumping of the well water took place for 24 hours prior to the pumping test.
The pump used was of 2kw.
The pump switched on at 12:30 PM and continued pumping the water for one hour and ten minutes.
The water level measured at different time intervals and recorded.
The pump then switched off at exactly 01:40 PM and the discharge for the period recorded.
The recharging of the well started immediately switching the pump off, recorded the recharge for an hour with different time intervals.
Findings/results
Immediately the pump was shutdown, the water level found to be coming up at a fair rate.
The level of the water after an hour with different intervals recorded.
Data from the test showed that the discharge over the period to be 10 m3/hour.
The drawdown found to be 2.15 m/hour.
The recharge found to be 1.03 m/hour.
