Design Brief Community Garden

Introduction
Water Wise Warriors! The local Council need your help! For World Water Day this year the
Council would like to open a community garden but need your help to ensure it is water
wise! They heard you have begun learning about where our water comes from and the
importance of saving water and is why they need your help in designing a garden that is
water wise. Are you up to the task?

Brief
You are required to design a community garden that is water wise and sustainable. You will
be working in small groups and each group will be designing a community garden. Once the
design process is complete and a list of resources has been made, as a group you will then
create a miniature world using your community garden design. You will be encouraged to
bring in resources from home and resources found around the school.

Generating Design
Are you ready warriors?
You must draw up one design per group of what must be included to ensure the community
garden is water wise. You will be provided A3 paper and an IPad for designing the garden.
The paper is for drawing up the design and the IPad is for groups to gather further
inspiration and knowledge of what should be included in a water wise garden. You will need
to clearly label and state what factors make the garden water wise so the council know
what has been implemented in the design. All group members must be involved in the
decision making process and everyone should be working as a team.
