I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

a. Define physical fitness.

b. Discuss the physical fitness health-related components.

c. Be aware of the benefits of beingphysically fit in our everyday lives.

d. Apply the knowledge about the benefits of being physically fit in taking

care of the whole body.

II. Subject Matter:

TOPIC: Physical Fitness

SUB-TOPIC: Physical Fitness Health-Related Components

MATERIALS: Laptop, LCD projector, Visual Materials, White board marker,

Eraser, PowerPoint Presentation, speaker.

III. Procedure:

A. Daily Routine

a.) Opening Prayer

The teacher will ask one of his/her student to lead the prayer

b.) Greetings

The teacher will address his/her class with a greeting.

c.) Checking of Attendance

The class monitor/secretary will check the attendance.


d.) Drill

Task: “Caterpillar Balloon”

The teacher will group the students into two groups.The mechanics

of the gameis that, each group will fall in line. Each member will put a

balloon on their bellies. They should not let the balloon falls by pushing it

against the person in front of them as they reaching the finish line. If a

balloon falls,such memberis eliminated. The group who will be reaching

the finish line with a greater number of memberswill be announced as

the winning team of the game.

B. Recapitulation

Task: The teacher will choose students to answer the question

about last lesson.

C. Motivation

Task: The teacher will post some pictures on the blackboard. Then

the students will guess what the pictures all about.

Physical Fitness

Is the ability to function efficiently and

effectively, to enjoy leisure, to be healthy,

to resist disease, and to cope with

emergency situation.
Physically Fit

It possesses cardiovascular endurance which

pertains to the hearth and vascular system’s

capacity to transport oxygen.

5 Components of Physical Fitness for Health Related

1.)Body Composition is the relative percentage of the body fat

compared with lean body mass.

2.)Muscular Strength

Isthe amount of force that can be

produced by a single contraction of

muscle.
3.)Cardiovascular Endurance

The ability of the circulatory system to

supply oxygen to working muscles

during exercise.

4.) Muscular Endurance

Isthe ability of a muscle group

continues muscle contraction over a

length of time.

5.) Flexibility

Is the ability to use one’s joints fully in

a normal range of motion.

Benefits of being physically fit

 Staying active means keeping your body functioning at a high

level.

 Regular exercise will maintain the performance of your lungs and

heart to most efficiently burn off excess calories and keep your

weight under control.


 Regular exercise has been long associated with a fewer visits to the

doctor, hospitalization and medication.

 It increases the overall happiness in your life, as well as relieve

symptom of stress, depression and anxiety.

 It decreases the risk of cardiac and health problems.

E. Valuing

Task: The students will be watching a short video clips that contains

the benefits of having a physically fit body. Then the teacher will ask

them if how they can relate it to their own experiences.

F. Generalization

Task:The teacher will ask the following questions:

 What is Physical Fitness?

 What is physically fit?

 What are the physical fitness health related components?

 Enumerate some of the benefits of being physically fit.

G. Application

Task:The class will be grouped into three and the teacher will instruct

the students to do a tableau on a particular or certain scenario

applying the benefits of being physically fit.


The criteria for their work are the following:

Originality - 20%

Message - 40%

Presentation - 25%

Team Work - 15%

Total = 100%
