Are you looking for a new kind of adventure for the upcoming fall? As
the sun starts retreating to the southern hemisphere, so does the Bark
EUROPA. And you can too! This year, you have the chance to join the ship
and her crew as they in the beginning of September set sail towards south-
ern Europe, the Canary Islands, and eventually across the Atlantic Ocean
to Uruguay. We invite single travelers as well as couples and groups to join
us for one or more of these legs and help bring the EUROPA back to South
America on her way to Antarctica.

OUR CREW
Coming on board, you will be part of what we on
EUROPA call the voyage crew. You will stand watches
of four hours on, eight hours off, and receive training
in sail handling, sail theory, seamanship, navigation
and much more. There to guide you on the way is
our permanent crew, which consists of experienced
sailors of different ages from all over the world, who
share a common love for sailing and exploration.
Throughout the voyage, they will teach you the ins
and outs of tall ship sailing, while also ensuring your
safety during this adventure.

 SCHEVENINGEN TO CASCAIS
This first leg of the long journey to the south starts with surfers and small-boat sailors. For the city-lovers, a
afternoon embarkation in Scheveningen, the home visit to Lisbon is a must. This Portuguese capital,

Brittany, the Bay of Biscay awaits you – and this is 15 September 2018 at 9:00 am in Cascais
where the voyage really starts. Getting out into € 1300,- p.p. in a shared 4/6-person cabin

learnt in the first few days of the voyage will
be put to the test. These waters are known to
often be rough, as this is where the Atlantic
Ocean meets the European continental shelf. Be
prepared to experience tall ship sailing at its very best!

After having made it across the Biscay, the last

days of the voyage will offer a cruise along the
coast of Spain and Portugal. Fully accustomed to
the motion of the waves, you will have the chance
to really enjoy this rocky and dramatic coastline
which is without a doubt one of the most beautiful
in the world. We are also likely to be able to spot
some dolphin pods during this part of the journey.
The voyage comes to an end upon arrival in Cascais, a
seaside getaway 30 minutes north of Lisbon. Here, it
is well worth spending a few days after the end of the
voyage strolling the narrow, beautifully tiled streets
and indulging in excellent seafood, Portuguese style.
For those who cannot get enough of the ocean,
this area is home to some of the most impressive
beaches in all of Europe, especially popular among

CASCAIS - TENERIFE
This voyage will begin with embarkation in Cascais,
in the afternoon of September 16th. The following
morning, we will depart from this beautiful and
historic seaside town, with the course set for the
Canaries. This trip is perfect for those considering
a longer ocean crossing, but who don’t yet have
enough time on their hands, or who would like to
try out a shorter trip to start. The route will give you
a chance to experience some open seas and get a
good feel for the ship and sail handling, while at the
same time offering an escape from the autumn with
a finish in the sunny Canaries.
As you see the mainland of Portugal slowly disappear
on the horizon, you have a crossing of over 700
nautical miles ahead of you. In the days to come,
you and your watch mates will be busy learning
the basics of tall ship sailing, in between manning

recommended to seize the opportunity to explore
the beauty of the islands, from the snow-covered
Teide volcano and the surrounding national park,
to the natural bathing pools of Charco Azul.

TENERIFE TO MONTEVIDEO
Want to make your ocean crossing complete?
Join us already in Tenerife, for the chance of crossing the Atlantic Ocean from the
Canaries to Uruguay, via Cape Verde. This combination fare includes using the
EUROPA as a Bed and Breakfast during the days spent in Cape Verde, but you are of
course also welcome to spend your nights here ashore as you prefer.

SCHEVENINGEN TO MONTEVIDEO
This is the option for those of you who are committed to joining the EUROPA
on her entire voyage from north to south. Starting out at the end of summer in
the Netherlands, you will get the unique opportunity to experience the seasons
change during your voyage, which ends with greeting the spring in South America.
This combination fare includes using the EUROPA as a Bed and Breakfast in Cascais
