Argument/position:

The article presented by FAO makes reference to the different objectives of sustainable
development for the 2030 agency that with the help of them can achieve a world without hunger
and malnutrition, guaranteeing nutritious and efficient processes, putting an end to poverty thus
improving the health, education, access to drinking water and others.

As the years pass, there may be an increase in the number of people suffering from hunger due
to lack of resources, leading to malnutrition in most cases
in Africa due to poor access to food and obesity due to unhealthy food.

Regarding climate change, it is also an important factor due to its variability and the extremes
that can affect food availability, access, utilization and stability of them.

Findings/Conclusions:

It is a very interesting article because it presents the most recent trends in three aspects that
should betake into account in the world such as malnutrition, hunger, and food insecurity.

It explains how there has been an increase in hunger in the world, as people suffer from chronic
deprivation of food, also due to the persistent instability in devastated regions of the world and
the economic slowdown that affects in greater proportion some areas.

Some children suffer from growth retardation but a decrease is observed until 2017 but
nevertheless the data remain high

By contrast, anemia among women of reproductive age is not improving as one in three women
of reproductive age in the world is affected by anemia, bringing with it consequences for the
health and development of women and their children.

As a conclusion, climate variability must be taken into account and extremes also affect food
imports as well as increases and volatility in food prices. food after the climatic phenomena.

Do you agree with argument(s)/position(s)? Explain.

I am in agreement regarding the objectives that are presented since we want to eradicate hunger
in the world, but as the years go by millions of people continue to suffer from hunger and like
children they suffer a delay in their growth. Because of this you can do more and quickly and
efficiently if the goal is to be achieved, such as the sustainable development of reaching zero
hunger by the year 2030.

It seems to me a great challenge since there is a lot of work to ensure good food security and not
leave anyone behind on the road to achieve the goals of the SDGs for improve nutrition, we must
also strengthen resilience and the ability to adapt to food systems and means of survival in
response to climate variability and extreme weather phenomena.

Actions must be implemented and expanded to guarantee access to nutritious food and thus
break the scheme of the malnutrition in children, adolescents and also fight against obesity
producing safe, low-cost and quality food.

Questions for the class:

How do you think you could address the challenges of hunger, food, insecurity and malnutrition
in the world?

What are the causes of malnutrition?

Who thinks about climate variability and how it is influenced by increases in world hunger and
is of the main causes of serious food crisis?

Form a solution to the problems mentioned in the article.
