The Curse of the Mango tree

Adult say to be very careful to enchanted places. A magical creature might punish you if you

do something harmful to their habitat. Some believe that by saying “tabi tabi po” can help get rid of

mythical creatures.

Sometime in 1985, in the land of Dipolog City, a girl named Erna is at a vigil and then she

suddenly wanted to pee so she went to the nearest mango tree and peed. After that, she went back but

unexpectedly she felt like she cannot carry herself nor can climb the stairs. Erna’s relatives were so

confused because her eyes were widened and she cannot interact properly. They were thinking that the

mango tree was the reason why Erna was acting so weird so one of the relatives suggested firing a silver

bullet to the mango tree for it to stop the curse. He informed everyone before doing it.

The next day, they were shook when they saw Erna pouting as if she was kissing someone.

Some of her family members got so scared to the point that they don’t want to go close to her because of

the possibility that she’ll hurt them.

In the following day, Vincent, Erna’s niece, putting away his fear aside, decided to sleep

beside her. At that night, he saw Erna’s body floating in the air. He hurriedly informed the people inside

their house and asked for help. Seven people tried putting her down since she is going higher. Rudy,

Erna’s older brother told her that he was going to the market but after a few minutes he bought a quack

doctor or also known as a mananambal with him. Erna’s eyes were filled with anger as she saw the

mananambal. As fast as they could, the mananambal quickly put a cup with water and salt into

hhermouth and perform a Latin prayer or otherwise known as “orasyon’. As the heat of his hands

touched her back, he swiftly was pulled away by an anonymous force.

 Soon after Erna recovered, she asked what happened. They told her everything and asked her

if she was ok. She said a man led him to a kingdom and let her seat in the throne next to the king which

is his father according to the man. They were so kind to her and let her eat foods made by them. They

treated her so well like she was one of them.

Days passed, as a gift, Erna gave the mananambal some fruits to show her gratitude towards

him. The mananambal told her that the man kept on coming back for him as he was very mad at him for

taking Erna away from him.

The man didn’t disturb Erna anymore since she was given an object that can help her stay

away from the dangerous creatures. Erna now lived in harmony but the memory is still trapped in her

mind and it will never be forgotten.
