DEFINITION OF TERMS:

Admin Office - is a set of day-to-day activities that are related to financial planning,

record keeping & billing, personnel, physical distribution and logistics, within an

organization.

Archive Room - An archive is an accumulation of historical records or the physical place

they are located.[1] Archives contain primary source documents that have accumulated

over the course of an individual or organization's lifetime, and are kept to show the

function of that person or organization.

AHU - means An air handler, or air handling unit (often abbreviated to AHU), is a device

used to regulate and circulate air as part of a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning

(HVAC) system.

Acoustics - is the branch of physics that deals with the study of all mechanical waves in

gases, liquids, and solids including topics such

as vibration, sound, ultrasound and infrasound. A scientist who works in the field of

acoustics is an acoustician while someone working in the field of acoustics technology

may be called an acoustical engineer.

Back of the house (BOH) - A term referring to the kitchen area of a restaurant and staff

who work in the kitchen. The "front of the house" refers to the dining room of the

restaurant and staff who directly interacts with customers (hostess, waiter, etc.).

Bachelors Pad - A "bachelor pad" is a slang term for a living space owned by a bachelor

(single man) that is designed as a collective space (as opposed to individual items) with

the purpose of facilitating a bachelor in his daily activities to include but not limited to

daily functionality, use of free time, hobbies and interests, entertaining friends, and

seducing women.

Basement - the floor of a building which is partly or entirely below ground level.

Bank - A bank is a financial institution licensed to receive deposits and make loans.

Banks may also provide financial services, such as wealth management, currency

exchange, and safe deposit boxes.

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) - is a subset of outsourcing that involves

contracting the operations and responsibilities for a particular business process to a

third-party service provider.

Casino - a public room or building where gambling games are played.

Clerical Room - work generally involves day-to-day office tasks, such as answering

phones and entering data into spreadsheets. These tasks may be performed by

secretaries, office clerks and administrative assistants. Other duties traditionally

associated with clerical work include: Word processing and typing.

Conference hall, Conference room, or Meeting room - is a room provided for singular

events such as business conferences and meetings. It is commonly found at

large hotels and convention centers though many other establishments, including even

hospitals have one.

Condominium - a building or complex of buildings containing a number of individually

owned apartments or houses.

Connecting bridge - A bridge is a type of computer network device that provides

interconnection with other bridge networks that use the same protocol. Bridge devices work at

the data link layer of the Open System Interconnect (OSI) model, connecting two different

networks together and providing communication between them Clinic - relating to the

observation and treatment of actual patients rather than theoretical or laboratory studies.

Delivery duct – a place where delivering and distributing goods are occurred.

Duct -are conduits or passages used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)

to deliver and remove air. As such, air ducts are one method of ensuring acceptable

indoor air quality as well as thermal comfort. A duct system is also called ductwork.

Drainage - the means of removing surplus water or liquid waste; a system of drains.

Electrical Room - An electrical room is a room or space in a building dedicated

to electrical equipment. Its size is usually proportional to the size of the building; large

buildings may have a main electrical room and subsidiary electrical rooms.

Entertainment room - is a room used for a variety of purposes, such as parties, games

and other every day or casual use.

Earthquake-resistant - are structures designed to protect buildings from earthquakes.

While no structure can be entirely immune to damage from earthquakes, the goal

of earthquake-resistant construction is to erect structures that fare better

during seismic activity than their conventional counterparts.

Easement - a right to cross or otherwise use someone else's land for a specified

purpose.

Elevator - a platform or compartment housed in a shaft for raising and lowering people

or things to different floors or levels.

Elevator lobby - A landing from which occupants directly enter an elevator car and into

which occupants directly enter upon leaving an elevator car.

Elevator shaft - a vertical shaft in a building to permit the passage of an elevator from

floor to floor.

Fire Exit - An emergency exit in a structure is a special exit for emergencies such as a

fire: the combined use of regular and special exits allows for faster evacuation, while it

also provides an alternative if the route to the regular exit is blocked by fire, etc.

Food Court - an area, typically in a shopping mall, where fast-food outlets, tables, and

chairs are located.

Family Suite - Generally a family room means the room is larger than the

standard room and will accommodate 4- 6 people, usually with an extra twin bed or

sleeper sofa. over a year ago.

Garbage Chute - a chute in a high-rise building for conveying domestic refuse from

upper floors to a collection point at the bottom.

Gazebo - a roofed structure that offers an open view of the surrounding area, typically

used for relaxation or entertainment.

Generator Room - is the combination of an electrical generator and an engine mounted

together to form a single piece of equipment that produces electrical power.

Green Architecture - is architecture that seeks to minimize the negative environmental

impact of buildings by efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and

development space and the ecosystem at large

Hotel - an establishment providing accommodations, meals, and other services for

travelers and tourists.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) - The system is used to provide

heating and cooling services to buildings. HVAC systems have become the required

industry standard for construction of new buildings.

Inventory Room- a complete list of items such as property, goods in stock, or the

contents of a building.

Infinity Pool - a swimming pool whose positioning gives the impression that it merges

into the ocean or other surrounding landscape.

Janitor Room - a person employed in an apartment house, office building, school, etc.,

to clean the public areas, remove garbage, and do minor repairs; caretaker

Kiosk - a small structure in a public area used for providing information or displaying

advertisements, often incorporating an interactive display screen or screens.

Kinetic architecture - is a concept through which buildings are designed to allow parts

of the structure to move, without reducing overall structural integrity.

Laundry Room - A laundry room is a room where clothes are washed.

Lobby - a room providing a space out of which one or more other rooms or corridors

lead, typically one near the entrance of a public building.

Lounge - lie, sit, or stand in a relaxed or lazy way

Leisure - use of free time for enjoyment.

Materials recovery facility (MRF) - is a specialized plant that receives, separates and

prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end-user manufacturers. Generally, there

are two different types: clean and dirty materials recovery facilities.

Mechanical room - or a boiler room is a room or space in a building dedicated to

the mechanical equipment and its associated electrical equipment, as opposed to rooms

intended for human occupancy or storage.

Maintenance room - rooms inside or outside the building for or storage

of Maintenance equipment.

Multipurpose room - could provide space for a music class, an after-school art club,

and an area for the debate club's meetings.

Manager room - The rooms division manager is responsible for Executive

Housekeeping and Front Office. He/she manages the general operation of the Front

Office e.g. Reception, Reservations, Concierge, Switchboard and Night Management.

Office - a room, set of rooms, or building used as a place for commercial, professional,

or bureaucratic work.

Observatory - a room or building housing an astronomical telescope or other scientific

equipment for the study of natural phenomena.

Organic architecture - is a philosophy of architecture which promotes harmony

between human habitation and the natural world.

Pump Room - a room, building, or compartment in which pumps are housed or from

which they are controlled.

Reception - in a hotel is the desk or office that books rooms for people and answers

their questions. The reception in an office or hospital is the place where people's

appointments and questions are dealt with.

Records Office - The group, department or office in an organization responsible for

maintaining the official records for the total records retention period. The organization or

administrative unit that is officially designated for the maintenance, preservation, and

disposition of record copies.

Sales Office - the part of a company that sells the company's products or services in a

particular area

Service Area - The Service Area supplements the Living and Sleeping Areas of the

house. It supplies equipment and space for maintenance, storage, and service. This

includes the kitchen, clothes care center, garage or carport, utility, and storage. Kitchen.

The principal use for the kitchen is food preparation.

Solar Panels - absorb sunlight as a source of energy to generate direct current

electricity

Supermarket - a large self-service store selling foods and household goods.

Staff room - A room set aside for the use of staff. Between lessons, the teachers relaxed in

the staffroom.

Storage - a room in which things are stored.

Studio Type - also known as a studio flat, a self-contained apartment, efficiency

apartment, bed-sitter or bachelor apartment, is a small apartment which combines, many

times but not always, the living room, bedroom, and kitchen into a single room

Sky Lobby - is an intermediate interchange floor in a skyscraper where people can

change from an express elevator that stops only at the sky lobby to a local elevator

which stops at every floor within a segment of the building.

Shaft - a vertical passageway through a building (as for an elevator)

Stalls - a stand, booth, or compartment for the sale of goods in a market or large

covered area

Suite - A suite (sounds like "sweet") is a collection of matching things. It usually refers to

rooms together, like when you get a suite at a fancy hotel. It can also be a set of furniture

or a musical composition. In housing terms, a suite is an apartment made up of

connected rooms.

Tennis Court - a rectangular area marked with lines on which tennis is played.

Theater - A movie theater (North American English), cinema (British English),

or cinema hall (Indian English), also known as a picture house or the pictures, is a

building that contains auditoria for viewing films (also called movies) for entertainment.

Utility room - a room equipped with appliances for washing and other domestic work.

Utility Core - The Core Utility of a product is its most functional, practical, aspect in

solving a need of a customer.

VIP Room - is designed with class and comfort to offer top standard accommodation

Weather Resilient - can be generally defined as the capacity for a socio-ecological

system to: absorb stresses and maintain function in the face of external stresses

imposed upon it by climate change and adapt, reorganize, and evolve into more

desirable configurations that improve the sustainability of the system, leaving it better

prepared for future climate change impacts.

Workstation - It refers to a computer (and often the surrounding area) that has been

configured to perform a certain set of tasks, such as photo editing, audio recording, or

video production. An office may have several workstations for different purposes, which

may be assigned to certain employees.
