PHILOSOPHY, A COURSE FOR ME

Philosophy, they say is not a practical course to have in college with the fact that
you can't have a decent or prominent job to get in the future after having a degree with
the said course. But I disagree with this opinion, these are just vexes on my posi tion,
since there are factual claims of the successful persons who are taking up a bachelor
degree in philosophy with an appropriate job they have now, may it be a lawyer, professor
or even a political authority. But yes, this may not be considered as a reason that why I
took up philosophy. Now, the truest sense of my answer for that, is not to answer it with
the question of why, but with the question of how.
Deciding a course to take up in college is truly a serious decision to be made. At
first, I was having a hard time with what should be the most practical course will I get in
order to have a degree and a serviceable work with the sense of a specified course that
will fit anything I will get for the future and its purposes. But, as I realize the strengths and
weaknesses I have, considering these ideas in picking a course, I also find myself thinking
about the paradigm with what I have taken up in senior high school, humanities and social
sciences, and there, I assess myself if I will be am able to take this advantage as a
graduate with the strand on what shall I take up in college with the inclusion of the lessons
and things I brought. There, I have finally came up with a decision, to take philosophy.
This happened due to the fact that it fits my capabilities and experiences of taking
humanities subjects. Another thing, I allow myself to be lenient with the decisions I make
up in college since it will be for my own purposes in life and in future. Also, picking up a
course is not all about the aspect of practicality, but it is about you, and the questions that
you have in your mind - the curiosity of things you really want or wanted to be learned on.
I said about this sentiment since I believe that a person really wants an answer with
everything around him or her, or it is like about he or she wants to have fulfillment of ideas
that are partially instilled in his or her knowledge and use it for any reasons. Lastly, I chose
philosophy by depicting myself of who can I be in the future, wherein I may be a successful
lawyer or a professional teacher, either areas this will be a reflection of the future me all
because of philosophy.
As I started studying philosophy, either a major or minor subject, I really
appreciated and find it interested to know more about it. It seems to me that I am really
eager to learn about the history, phenomenology, epistemology, metaphysics and the
other areas of the course, especially the famous philosophers that created theories and
made philosophy a stable a foundation to be learned in this contemporary world.
Everything about it is useful. But it does not easily end there. It is useful in a way that you
can find ways of dissecting ideas and facts around you, it may be a person, an animal or
any other that you seems to be curious about. From there, you will bring this aspect to
answer a veritable information of what you seem to find out and may it be an acceptable
idea to anyone who wants to know about that kind of thing or fact, may he or she be a
researcher, doctor, teacher or anybody that wants precise premises of the conclusion
they already have in order to have an acceptable claim. Overall, philosophy is a course
for me for it helps me enriched my knowledge on the things around me, and it helped and
will help me develop as a person to be mature enough and to practice analyzing ideas
that may help me become a thorough human being in any matter amidst the limitations
of my self and my mind.
