FAQs

Where can I download install or maintenance packages?

The download location depends on what install or maintenance package you need to download. The
location depends of the following criteria:

1. IBM released version or legacy Sterling released version


2. Install package or Maintenance package
3. Software is installed on z/OS or other OS (Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Linux, iSeries etc.)

For IBM Released Versions (non z/OS)

How do I know or how can I tell if my software product is an IBM released version or a legacy
Sterling version?

See Tables 1 – 4 below in the IBM Released Versions vs. Sterling Legacy Versions section.

I don’t see any maintenance on Support Center or on Fix Central for Sterling B2B Integrator
5.2.1, 5.2.2 or 5.2.3. Where can I find the maintenance for 5.2.0?

The 5.2.1, 5.2.2, and 5.2.3 releases are modification level releases and are not maintenance (fix packs).
Modification level releases are delivered as a full install so the download is only available through
Passport Advantage. Once you have downloaded 5.2.1, 5.2.2 or 5.2.3, you can extract the jar file to
your apply and update your system. See the product documentation for instructions on how to apply
the jar file. Under the IBM Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2 Information Center, scroll down to the
Documentation in PDF format section, and select the Installation and Upgrade link. Select the
appropriate link for the Sterling B2B Integrator version/cluster or non cluster system guide.

5.2.0 can be updated to 5.2.1, 5.2.2 or 5.2.3 using the extracted jar file
5.2.1 can be updated to 5.2.2 or 5.2.3 using the extracted jar file
5.2.2 can be updated to 5.2.3 using the extracted jar file

When the first fix pack is released it will be in the version format 5.2.x.1, and it will be available on Fix
Central. (x will be the current modification level release that is available at the time)
Fix Central

Fix Central is the download location for fixes for IBM product versions that are not run on z/OS.
See Tables 1 – 4 below) for more information on versions.

Central from the Downloads page of the IBM Support Portal

Process Steps

1. If you do not have an IBM ID, you will need to register for your ID first. You can go
directly to the My IBM registration page, or you can get to it from the register now link
on the Fix Central page.
2. For more information on Fix Central, click on the Getting started with Fix Central link.
3. There are two different ways you can find the fixes available for your product.
a. Select product
i. Product Group: Select “Other Software”
ii. Product: Select the appropriate “Sterling …” product
iii. Installed Version: Select the appropriate installed version for your
product
iv. Click Continue

b. Find product
i. Product selector: Start typing the name of your product “Sterling …” and
select the appropriate product
ii. Installed Version: Select the appropriate installed version for your
product
iii. Click Continue

4. Select how you want to search for fixes for your product version. Since Sterling
products are not yet tracked on the IBM case tool, you should choose Browse for fixes
or Text.
5. Select the fixes that you want to download and/or click on the links to Release Notes
and click Continue
6. Select your download option and click Continue
7. Follow the instructions to complete the download based on the option you chose above.
IBM Web Management (IWM)

Please Note: Effective December 1, 2011, legacy products/releases (see Tables 1 - 4 below) will
no longer be available from Customer Center > Support Center > Product Updates & Downloads
pages. Legacy product maintenance downloads as well as install packages are available now
from the IBM site.

Process overview to access the new IBM Web Management (IWM) download site

1. Complete the IBM ID registration process (omit if you have already have an IBM ID)
2. Complete the Sterling Legacy Software Request (Form) page. Note: This request only
needs to be filled out once unless you need to add access to other products from what
was originally requested.
3. Once you have received an email confirming the approval of your access request along
with your access key for download, you can proceed to the download site. Keep your
access key in a safe place; you will need this for all your legacy install and maintenance
downloads.
4. Go to the Sterling Legacy Software Request (Download) page. Here you will see the
product(s) you have been granted access and can download any install packages or
maintenance packages that are available. Return to this site for any legacy downloads.
Process Steps

1. If you do not have an IBM ID, you will need to register for your ID first. You can go directly to
the My IBM registration page, or you can get to it from the Get an IBM ID link on the Sterling
Legacy Software Request (Form) page.

2. Once you have completed the registration process or if you already have your IBM ID, you
will need to fill out the request form for access to the IBM Web Management (IWM) download
site.

Note: In this form, you will need to select (can multi-select) the product installs and
maintenance for which you will need access. The entries that have “Maintenance” after the
product are the patches/builds for that version, the entries without the “Maintenance” are for
the install packages for that version.

Note: This request only needs to be filled out once unless you need to add access to other
product/version(s) from what was originally requested.
3. Once you have completed the request form, it will take 1 – 3 business days (US) for the setup
to be completed. You will receive an email with the IBM (IWM) URL for downloading the
software along with your unique access key. You must have this access key in order to
download any legacy software.

4. Click here to access the Sterling Legacy Software Request (Download) page. Complete the
page information and click Submit.

5. Select the radio button for the download offering and click Continue
6. Select the method of download: Download using Download Director or Download
using http. (See the Learn more links for more information on the download options.)

a. Click on the check box for each item that you want to download then click on the
View license link.
b. Complete the License section by clicking on the I agree checkbox if you have read
and agree to all license terms.
c. Click on I confirm if you want to proceed with the download and have agreed to the
license terms, or click on I cancel if you do not want to complete the download at
this time.

Once you have submitted your request, the files requested will download.

Passport Advantage
Instructions to access Software downloads & Account management via the Software and
services tool.

1. Access the IMB Passport Advantage "Software and services tool" at


www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/softwareandservices and select "Customer sign in".
2. If you already have an IBM ID and password created elsewhere on ibm.com you may enter
these into the fields for "IBM ID" and "Password". If you do not, please create them now by
selecting the "register" link on the sign in page and completing the necessary information
on the next page.
3. You will be prompted to enter your temporary passcode from your Welcome Letter. Full
access to the "Software and services tool" requires an IBM Temporary passcode otherwise,
limited access to Software download will be allowed.
4. Once you have been granted access, there are several options on how you can find
available download packages. You will only be able to download products which are part of
your company’s entitlement. There is a You Tube tutorial video which walks you through
the process: Downloading Products from Passport Advantage.
