A. Daily Routine

B. Motivation
The teacher will divide the class into four groups. He will then give a word to the
class. A representative from each group will make a sentence out of the word
given. The structure of the sentences will be based on the emojis being flashed
on the screen by the teacher. The smiley emoji corresponds to a sentence
stating a fact; the thinking emoji corresponds to a sentence asking a question;
the praying emoji corresponds to a sentence making a request; and; the
laughing out loud emoji corresponds to a sentence expressing excitement or
great emotion.

C. Lesson Proper
The teacher discusses the "Types of Sentences According to Use".

There are 4 types of sentences according to use. These Types of Sentences are:
Declarative Sentences, Imperative Sentences, Interrogative Sentences, and
Exclamatory Sentences.
A declarative sentence states a fact or opinion and ends with a period.

Ex. Philippines is rich in natural resources.


The sky is blue.
The dog in the neighbor’s yard is barking.

An imperative sentence expresses a request or gives a command or direction. It


also and ends with a period or exclamation mark.

Ex. Close the door. (command)


Please be quiet. (polite request)
Please give the certificate.

An interrogative sentence asks a question and ends with a question mark.

Ex. When will you visit the white island?


Is it raining?
Have you tried eating sisig?

An exclamatory sentence conveys emotion and ends with an exclamation mark.

Ex. The house is on fire!


Help! A thief stole my bag!
You have ruined my dress!

D. Activity
The class is then asked to give examples 3 examples.

E. Analysis
The Teacher will present another set of pictures to the students. The latter will
then formulate 4 sentences corresponding to each type of sentences according
to use.

F. Abstraction
The teacher then asks 2 of his students what they have understood so far from
the lesson.

IV. Application

Group Activity: Make a short presentation depicting different situations. Make sure
to use all types of sentences.
Group 1: You and your friends are in a concert.
Group 2: You are lost when you meet a group of friends having fun on the road.
Group 3: A famous actress visited your village.
Group 4: Your teacher informed you about your failing marks.

Pick a minute long scene from any film. Write down the dialogue from the chosen
scene and identify the sentences used in that dialogue according to its usage.
