SUBJECT: SCAFFOLDING SAFETY DATE: 28th September 2019

Scaffolding is a temporary structure or platform made of tubes, wooden planks, toe boards, guard rails,
etc. to perform various activities at an elevated area.

Hazards of scaffoldings:
 Fall from height
 Dropped Object
 Getting struck by falling tools or debris
 Collapses of scaffolding
 Hit by protruding tube and sharp edges
 Pinch Point/ hand traps
Precautions Measures to be taken:
 Ensure that scaffold is green tagged and valid inspection date
 Always do an LMRA of your own and then start the work
 Use Full body harness with 100% tie off if over reaching
 Always barricade the drop zone along with proper signage
 Always maintain proper housekeeping and keep the materials in
designated areas only
 Secure the tools/ loose material while working on scaffolding with in toll bag/ tray
 Always store you full body harness in safe place
 Ensure required area to be barricaded for scaffolding with signage
 Ensure all protruding scaffolding tubes and nuts are covered with protective caps in access area.
 Avoid line of fire and wear impact resistant gloves.

Ascending and Descending at ladder:


 Never carry tools and equipment’s in hand while using ladder
 Always ensure to have three point contact on the ladders
 Always use ladders for Access/ Egress for work at height and deep excavation
 Always place ladder in a right direction or place

Note: Immediately report any unsafe condition to avoid incidents.
