1.0 OBJECTIVES:
Upon completing the task, the components of UNIMAS micro hydropower system
should have been identified. Furthermore, the evaluation on UNIMAS micro hydropower
system should can be done. In addition, the report on UNIMAS micro hydro system should can
be produce.
2.0 INTRODUCTION:
Hydropower system or also known as water energy system is one of the renewable
energy that use the conversion of water energy into a mechanical. Hydro-turbines convert water
pressure into a mechanical shaft power, which can be used to drive an electricity generator [1].
Figure 1 below shows a simple working principle of a hydropower system.
Micro hydropower system is a small scale of hydro power which supply energy from
5-100KW. Most of micro hydro power are used in remote areas where the national grid does
not extend [2]. In many countries, most of the micro hydropower system are used to support
the rural area.
The constructed micro hydropower in Kampung Assam are used for small industrial
purposes. The installed micro hydropower can generated electricity up to 10KW. Figure 2
below shows the weir and forebay of micro hydropower in Kampung Assam.

3.0 METHODOLOGY:
1. A visit to UNIMAS micro hydropower system at Kampung Assum, Padawan area was
conducted.
2. The component for UNIMAS micro hydropower system was observed and identified.
3. The photo for the construction and component of UNIMAS micro hydropower system
was taken.
4. A simple report on UNIMAS micro hydropower system is produced.
