The findings of this research paper will help other researchers, curriculum

developers, and graduate students in providing a source of secondary data

needed in their respective future-related researches.

Definition of Terms

For the purpose of this study, the following key terms are defined

operationally

Anime – a film derived from Japan. It is a kind of animation.

Biology - the study of living organisms, divided into many specialized

fields that cover their morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin, and

distribution.

Comparative study – comparison between two variables

STEM - s an educational program developed to prepare primary and

secondary students for college and graduate study in the fields of science,

technology, engineering, and mathematics

Test - a procedure intended to establish the quality, performance, or

reliability of something, especially before it is taken into widespread use

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter shows the discussion of results in the study. The data are

presented in a tabular form, analyzed and interpreted as proper based on the

problem given in Chapter I.

1. What are the general test results of Grade 11 STEM students who watch

science themed Anime and those who do not?

Post-Test 35.32

As shown in table 1, the mean score of grade 11 Leibniz were obtained

to compare their pre-test and post-test. It can be seen here that there is an

increase of scores in their post-test from 26.41 to 35.32.

From the Table 3, an independent-sample t-test was conducted to

compare the pre-test and post-test of Grade 11 STEM students who watch

science themed anime and those who do not. The p value obtained (sig. = .8077)

was greater than alpha level .05. Thus, the null hypothesis was accepted. This

implies that there is no significant difference between the test results of grade 11

STEM students who watch science themed anime and those who did not.

CHAPTER V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of findings in the previous chapter,

the conclusion and recommendations, concerning the extent of implementation

of grade 11 students.

SUMMARY

This study was conducted to determine whether anime has an effect on

the test results of students. The findings of the study served as basis for

development performance of students.

Specifically, the purpose of the study is to determine whether watching

science themed anime has an effect on the test results of grade 11 STEM

students.

The study tested the null hypothesis with a significance level of .05 which

was: there is no significant difference between the test-results of grade 11 STEM

students who watched a science themed anime and those who do not.

The respondents of this study were two groups of STEM students from

Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino High School. The researchers used the grade 11

Leibniz and Descartes as their respondents because of their similar topic in

Biology to the presented anime. The main instrument used to gather data were

made by researchers and was approved by the following professional teachers;

BENIGNO “Ninoy” S. AQUINO HIGH SCHOOL 8

Christian Abasta (Statistics), Princess Joycel Mesa (Biology), and Randy

Salientes (Practical Research).

Lastly, the study used mean, standard deviation and t-test as statistical

tools in treating the data gathering.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

As to the extent of determining the test results of grade 11 stem students

in Biology, the findings were as follows;

1. The test questionnaires were answered by the students who were divided in

a group of two where one group watched a science themed anime and the

other did not. The students who watched the science themed anime were

grade 11 Descartes and the ones who did not were grade 11 Leibniz. The

results of the tests revealed a mean of 35.32 and 34.89 with a standard

deviation of 6.61 and 7.11 respectively.

2. The means of the two groups were compared with the use of independent

t-test as the statistical tool where it showed a t value of 245 and a df of 60.

Thus, there is not a significant difference between the two means. The p

value obtained (sig. = .8077) was greater than alpha level .05. Thus, the

null hypothesis was accepted. This implies that there is no significant

difference between the test results of grade 11 STEM students who watch

science themed anime and those who did not.

CONCLUSION

1. The researchers therefore conclude in this research that there is no

significant difference of students’ test results who watched science themed

anime and those who did not.

2. The researchers also conclude that watching anime might not help students

perform better in Biology class.

Recommendation

In the context of the above findings and conclusions the researchers came

up with the following recommendations.

1. The researchers recommend that other researchers conduct a larger sample

size in their research.

2. The researchers recommend to future researchers to make a study in

watching Korean drama instead of anime and see if it has a significant

difference in the student’s test results.

3. The researchers recommend that whether the test results shows that there is

no significant effects in the test results of STEM students, they are still

encouraged to provide more time in studying or reading books.
