Please stand. Let us put ourselves in the

Daily Routine holy presence of the Lord.
Heavenly Father,
You hold each of us in Your loving
hands. Come fill our hearts, minds,
and bodies afresh with hope. Help
us to cast our worries upon You, so
that we can embrace our learning
today. Bless us as we study and
grow together. Come and anoint
those who teach us to be bringers of
insights and knowledge. Lord, watch
over us all, and keep us safe within
Your Almighty hand.

Amen.
2. Greetings
Good afternoon, class!
Good afternoon, Ma’am.
3. Classroom Management

We are going to do the “Follow Me”

dance. All you have to do is follow
whatever I say and do. Is that clear?
Yes, Ma’am.
Follow, follow, follow me.
FACE your classmate and then SMILE.
Make it big, make it wide.

Follow, follow, follow me.

Pick up the messes on the floor.

Follow, follow, follow me.

Arrange your chair properly.

Follow, follow, follow me.

You may now take your seat.

4. Checking of Attendance

Ms. Secretary, kindly check the

attendance, list the absentees for today
and give it to me after our class.

Class, as you can see our room is fully

decorated. Right?
Yes, Ma’am.
It’s because one of your classmate
asked me to allow her to celebrate in
advance her birthday with you today
because you are one of the special
persons in her life right now. So without
hesitation, I said ‘yes’ but I requested her
to make it a fun learning experience as

Lesson
I know you are all excited to see our
celebrant but first, let me call on our host
to take charge in this event and to
facilitate some activities we prepared just
for you.

I will not be around during the party

because I have a meeting to attend to.
Please be good enough while I am away.
Have fun, learn and enjoy!

Here are your party hats and name tags.

You may take selfies around if you want. I
will just call on our host.

(The host will enter the room.)

There you are, the beautiful and

handsome classmates of our dear
celebrant. Are you having fun?
Yes, Ma’am.
I am Ms. Faje and I am your teacher -
host for today. As we start the party, let
us have some bone-wrecking and mind-
blowing song with dance number for our
celebrant. So let us show her what we
have.

We will sing this song to the tune of

“Father Abraham”. Then, we will do what
the lyrics say in some parts of the song
until the end. Are you ready?

Let us sing! Yes, Ma’am.

Special products are just really fun.

It’s really fun to learn ‘bout
binomials.
First is the product of two binomials.
So let us stretch our arms,
Right arm, left arm.

Special products are just really fun.

It’s really fun to learn ‘bout

Next is the product of the sum and
difference of binomials.
Right arm, left arm,
Right foot, left foot.

Special products are just really fun.

It’s really fun to learn ‘bout
binomials.
Lastly is the square of binomial.
So let us wrap it all.
Right arm, left arm,
Right foot, left foot,
Chin up, turn around.

Special products are just really fun.

It’s really fun to learn ‘bout
binomials.
We just learn about the formulas
of Special Products.
Right arm, left arm,
Right foot, left foot,
Chin up, turn around,
Sit down.
Based on the song, what topic will be
integrated to the activities we have
today?
Special Products
Very good. We are going to learn about
Special Products particularly Formula 1,
2, and 3.

(State the objectives)

Special Products are special cases of

forming products of binomials.
Binomial is a polynomial with two terms.
Example: 5y2 – 3

Today we will be dealing with the first

three Formulas of Special Products.

I. THE PRODUCT OF TWO BINOMIALS

In forming the product of two binomials,
we use the FOIL method.
F stands for First (terms)
O stands for Outer (terms)
I stands for Inner (terms)
L stands for Last (terms)

Consider this two binomials:

(ax + by)(cx + dy)

where a, b, c, and d are real numbers.

Presenting Using FOIL method, find the product by

Examples/instanc getting the:
es of the New
Lesson First terms, (ax)(cx) = acx2
Outer terms, (ax)(dy) = adxy3
Inner terms, (by)(cx) = bcxy
Last terms, (by)(dy) = bdy2

(ax + by)(cx + dy) = acx2 + adxy + bcxy +

bdy2

In symbol:
(ax + by)(cx + dy) = acx2 + (ad + bc) xy +
bdy2
Example:
F
O
(3x – 4)(2x + 7)
I
L
= (3x)(2x) + (3x)(7) + (-4)(2x) + (-4)(7)
= 6x2 + 21x – 8x – 28
= 6x2 + 13x – 28
II. THE PRODUCT OF THE SUM AND
DIFFERENCE OF A BINOMIAL

In symbol: (x + y)(x – y) = x2 – y2

In words: the product of the sum and

difference of two terms is the difference
of the squares of the terms.

Example:

(x + 4)(x – 4) = (x)2 – (4)2

= x2 – 16

III. SQUARE OF A BINOMIAL

In symbol: (x + y)2 = x2 + 2xy + y2

In words: the square of a binomial is the

sum of the square of the first term, twice
the product of the two terms, and the
square of the last term.
*In squaring binomial difference, the
middle term will be negative.

In symbol:
(x – y)2 = x2 – 2xy + y2

Example:
(x + 9)2

Square of the first term, (x)2 = x2

Twice the product of x and 9,
2(x)(9) =18x
Square of the last term, (9)2 = 81

(x + 9)2 = x2 + 18x + 81

The result of the square of a binomial is

known as a perfect square trinomial.

Now that you know about Special

Products Formulas, let’s play a game
called “POP IT! POST IT!”

You will be divided into three teams. Your

team will be based on the color of your
party hats. Look for your teammates,
then form your respective group/team.

Red team will be at the right side, Blue

team at the middle, and Green team at
the left side. Form a line horizontally
outside the mark you see on the floor.

Here is the mechanics of the game:

Each group has a set of balloons in front.
Each balloon has a problem inside
written in a paper. One of your member
will pop a balloon in front. Then, will find
the paper, and will solve the problem.

Write the answer on the balloon-shaped

colored paper corresponding the color of
the balloon you popped. Then, post it on
the board. Return to your group to tap
the next one to pop the balloon. Then
repeat the process until you popped all
the balloons and answer all the
problems. You have five minutes to finish
the game.

Did you get the instructions clearly?

Yes, Ma’am.
Before we start, here are the criteria for
the game.

Analysis
1. For Red team, what Special
Discussing New Products formula did you use in
Concepts and problem no. 1? We use Formula 3 which is the
Practicing New Square of a Binomial in solving
Skills No. 1 problem no. 1.
2. How did you get your answer
using that formula?
We get our answer by getting the
square of the first term plus twice
the product of the first and second
term plus the square of the second
term.
Very good. Let us give the Red team a
“You are special” clap.

3. For Blue team, how did you

derive with your answer in
problem no. 2? We simply get the square of the first
term minus the square of the
second term.

That is right. Let us give them “You are

great” clap.

4. For Green team, what method

did you use to solve problem no.
3? And how did you obtain your
answer? We use the FOIL method. First, we
get the product of the first terms of
each binomial. Then, we get the
product of the outer terms. Next,
we get the product of the inner
terms. And finally, we get the
product of the last terms of each
binomial.

Precisely! Let us give them “You are

awesome” clap.
