Curriculum Vitae

Márton Kovács, bass-baritone. I was born in Szolnok (Hungary) on October 23 1986. My

relation to music started at the age of 7 with learning how to play the flute and the oboe. I carried
on with these studies for eight years. After graduating from high school I did a three-year actor’s
studio (Shakespeare Academy) where I studied theatrics and stage singing. After having done my
diploma I worked in a theatre for four years doing both prosaic and musical roles, and did a BA
degree in English Linguistics. In the theatre I had a private voice coach who helped me develop
my skills. After two years of preparation my teacher suggested me to audition for a conservatory
in Italy to further my musical education. I auditioned for the Conservatorio Augostino Steffani of
Castelfranco Veneto. I was immediately accepted into the three-year bachelor program by Maestro
Enrico Rinaldo. For the last six years I have been living, studying and performing in the Veneto
region. In my first year our class has performed Il barbiere di Seviglia of Giovanni Paisiello in the
theatre of Castelfranco and in Ravenna as a coproduction between two conservatories. I sang the
role of Lo Svegliato. The same year in Rovigo I was asked to sing the baritone role in the first
production of a contemporary musical play titled Sogno dentro Sogno, written and directed by
Massimo Munaro. The next year I sang Mr Gobineau in La Medium by Gian Carlo Menotti in
Castelfranco. At the in the of year we produced a special production based on three operas of
Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni and Cosí fan tutte. In this production I sang Figaro
from Le nozze and Guglielmo from Cosí fan tutte. Last year’s main project was Donizetti’s Elisir
D’Amore, on the island of Ischia, in which I sang Doctor Dulchamara. This production was
performed again in march 2016 in the academic theatre of Castelfranco Veneto. In april 2016 I
debuted the role of Figaro (Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro) in the theatre of Pieksämäki, Finland. In
October 2016 I performed at the Biennale di Musica in Venice in the piece: Trascrizione di un
Errore by Alexander Chernyshkov. On the 10th of February 2017 I debuted the role of Schaunard
in Puccini’s La Bohéme in the Teatro Accademico of Castelfranco Veneto. In 2018 I sang the role
of Mill in Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio, and the role of Don Bartolo in Il Barbiere di
Seviglia. Later this year I performed Leporello in a production of Don Giovanni (Mozart) at the
theatre of Scio. In summer 2018 I participated at a contemporary theatrical festival in Wien
performing in a different version of Trascrizione. This spectacle was revised in October at the
Electrotheatre Stanislavsky in Moscow.
