 THEME OF THE WORKSHOP
The DAE-BRNS 5th National Workshop
on Materials Chemistry, (NWMC-2019) is
specifically aimed at giving an overview of
Nano and Composite Materials to the budding
scientists. The main focus will be on physical
basis of functionality, synthesis, processing,
characterization, properties of Nano and
Composite Materials and their applications
in the field of energy, health care, water and
environment. The theme of workshop is NWMC
– 2019 (NCom-Mat).
SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP
Nano and Composite Materials designed,
synthesized and tuned for:
• Energy conversion
• Energy storage
• Energy saving devices
• Drug delivery and health care application
• Sensing and remediation of harmful
impurities in drinking water
• Sensing of toxic gases
• Catalyzing industrially and
environmentally important reactions
TARGETED PARTICIPANTS
Students in advanced stage of their research,
and young faculty members/researchers at
universities, scientific laboratories working in
field of materials science, composites, ceramics,
materials with special functionalities, interested
in understanding the basic concepts involved
and their advanced applications in materials and
chemical processing and technology.

1953 by Padama Shri Late Dr. TMA Pai. Manipal
University Jaipur (MUJ) is the youngest member
of the Manipal Education family, which was
established in 2011. MUJ offers a wide spectrum
of academic programs in different disciplines
like Engineering, Sciences, Management, Law,
Arts, Journalism and maintains the Manipal
University’s legacy of providing quality education
to its students.
ABOUT CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT, MUJ
Department of Chemistry has come a long way
since its inception in 2011 by making significant
contribution in education and research in all areas
of chemistry and allied branches. Department
offers programme such as B.Sc. (Hons.),
M.Sc. & Ph.D. Department offers Engineering
Chemistry course for engineering students and
Environmental Studies course for Engineering
& Non-Engineering students. Department has
well equipped labs to cater to the requirements
of undergraduate, postgraduate and research
programs. In short span, good number of
publications are produced in reputed journals.
Faculty members have received funding from
external agencies like KURITA-Japan, DST-GoI.
UGC-DAE, DBT-GoI, DST-Rajasthan.
SOCIETY FOR MATERIALS CHEMISTRY
The Society for Materials Chemistry (SMC), was
conceptualized in the year 2006 during the First
International Symposium on Materials Chemistry
(ISMC 2006) at BARC, Mumbai, with Chemistry
Division, BARC, as its Headquarters. SMC is
now a registered society with more than 1100
Life Members. The Society provides a common
platform to young researchers and active
scientists in the area of Materials Chemistry by
organising biennial symposia and workshops.
Jointly with Chemistry Division, BARC, it has
organised International Symposia on Materials
Chemistry (ISMC 2008/2010/2012/2014/2016/
2018) and National Workshops on Materials
Chemistry (NWMC-2011, NWMC-2013, NWMC-
2015 and NWMC-2017) at Mumbai. NWMC-2019
(NCom-Mat) is being jointly organised by Manipal
University Jaipur and BARC in association with
SMC with financial support from BRNS. SMC
hopes to enhance the strength and proliferate the
activities of SMC through seminars, workshops
and bring out newsletters, bulletins.
ABOUT BRNS
Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS)
supports research and development activity in
universities, institutes of higher learning and
national laboratories in the fields relevant to the
mandate of Department of Atomic Energy. BRNS
also supports symposia, conferences, seminars
and workshops in various areas of science and
technology.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Desirous participants may apply on the
workshop website (http://www.smcindia.org/
nwmc-2019/) by filling the application form
before September 15, 2019. The Organizing
Committee reserves the rights to accept/reject
of the participant`s application. The intimation
regarding of acceptance of the participation
application will be communicated by October 01,
2019. After receiving the participation approval
from the organizer, applicant needs to pay the
registration fee and subsequently registers for
the workshop via the workshop website on or
before October 11, 2019. Payment details will be
provided in the intimation letter of participation
approval. Kindly note that participation in the
workshop will be confirmed only after the receipt
of registration fee within the due date.
