important element in the world of economy and culture. Furthermore textile

industry in Indonesia start from home industries in 1929 using the Textile

Mesin” (ATBM). ATBM was replaced by “Alat Tenun Mesin” (ATM) in

1939. Since then, textile industry have continued to develop even today and

become one of Indonesia's export commodities. Thus, I am going to discuss

the export market of textile industry in Indonesia.

Moreover, the growth export market of textile industry in Indonesia

is resurge since the export market needs are increasing. The growth of

the textile industry was the highest recorded at 18.98 percent in the first

Muhdori’s (2019) article on tempo.co:

"The textile and textile products (TPT) industry is one of the

mainstay sectors because it contributes greatly to the national

economy. Moreover, the textile industry is a sector that is classified

as labor-intensive and export-oriented."

Furthermore, increasing the productivity of the textile industry is

also supported through various vocational education and training activities

conducted by the Ministry of Industry. This program creates competent

and productive industrial human resources. In fact, there was also the

momentum of general elections some time ago, which some textile

industry players produced attributes for the campaign.

Muhdori’s (2019) article on tempo.co:

“The consumption of textile and textile products is also believed to

continue to increase along with population growth and lifestyle changes. In

taking advantage of this opportunity, the national textile industry players

must work hard to improve productivity, quality and efficiency through the

application of more modern technologies in accordance with the digital

era.”

However, in building strong textile industries has high

competitiveness, many challenges or problems that must be faced. The first

problem is the export market are concentrated to certain export markets like

the United States, and it is vulnerable to global economic and financial

turmoil. The second problem is the invasion of imports from China. Similar

products from China have much lower price with the same quality.
