Unit of Competency: Perform roughing in, wiring and cabling works for single-
phase distribution, power, lighting and auxiliary systems
INSTRUCTIONS: This Self-Check Instrument will give the trainer necessary
data or information which is essential in planning training

1.1 Install electrical metallic /non- metallic (PVC conduit)
 Interpret correct drawing base on job requirements
 Determine correct quantities of conduit, fittings and
accessories as per job requirements
 Select tools and equipment as per job requirements
 Perform assembling of conduit ensuring that fittings are
fully inserted and tightened as per job requirements
 Perform conduit bending not exceeding 90° as per job

 Install conduit couplings and elbows as per job

 Check conduit is well threaded in line as per job

 Follow safety procedures with standard operating
procedures (SOPs)

 Install Cable lay out equipment is set up in accordance
with manufacturer's and job requirements
 Install cable made safe and secure in site
 Select suitable protective clothing and required safety
devices are used
 Assess support structure as safe for normal working
conditions

1.5 Perform wiring and cabling lay out


 Follow safety procedures based on safety regulations PPE
are identified and selected in line with safety
requirements
 Identify tools, equipment, pulling compound and safety
requirements are obtained for the lay out and installation
 Install pulling materials properly and tensioned to
required specifications
 Install Cable secured permanently to support structure in
accordance with standard procedures
 Observe bending radius and loops tolerance for cable
materials at all times
 Follow schedule of wire cutting lists based on estimates,
quantity and sizes to avoid wastage
 Further instructions are sought if unplanned events or
