The story of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp

By Debolina Raja
Synopsis
Long time ago, there was a young poor boy named Aladdin who lived with his
mother. One day, a rich merchant came to their house looking for Aladdin. He told his
mother that he was a merchant who travelled from Arabia. He asked Aladdin to come with
him and do some little work for him and promised that he would pay him fairly. His mother
said yes right away without her knowing that the man who introduced himself as a
merchant was actually a magician. Next day, Aladdin and the merchant left. They
travelled for hours and stopped in a deserted place.
Then, the merchant took out some colored powder from his pocket and thrown it
to the ground and the next thing he knew smoke covered the area. From there, Aladdin
saw an opening in the ground that looked like a cave. The merchant ordered him to go
inside the cave, fill his pocket with gold and look for a lamp. Aladdin obeyed on the
merchant’s order and get the lamp that was described as old and dirty. He called out the
merchant to help him out but the merchant said that he give the lamp first but he refused
and the merchant got mad. He locked up Aladdin in the cave with a huge rock. He shouted
hoping that someone may came for his aid but unfortunately, no one came. He then
started to clean the lamp and something came out from it. It was a man who looked very
strange. He introduced himself as a genie of the lamp and told him to make a wish. He
wished to be homed and he did. He wished for a palace and married the daughter of
Sultan.
The magician learned about Aladdin’s fortune, he went to the palace disguised as
an old man who exchanged the old lamps to new one. Aladdin had not told his princess
about the magic lamp. She got it to give it to the magician. He recognized the lamp and
took it with him. He summoned the genie and wished for Aladdin’s palace to be in the
desert. Aladdin returned home. He could not find his palace, his princess nor his mother.
He thought that it might be the magician’s doing as his revenge to him. He remembered
that the magician gave him a ring. He rubbed the ring and another genie appeared. He
wished to transport to his palace. There, he found his princess and mother. He also the
magic lamp there. He took the magic lamp away from the magician, rubbed the lamp then
the genie appeared. He ordered him to send the magician in a place where he could not
harm anyone again. The magician disappeared.
The genie helped Aladdin to go back to where his palace was. From there, Aladdin
and his family lived happily along with the genie.
