Purpose of this document:

This document informs about a workaround for following problem:
 Symptom: After changing the Key-Operator language at printers with software 2.1.0_C3, the
printer boot-up hangs with message: “Please wait - selftest proceeding”
 To prevent the problem, do not change the key-operator language.

Affected serial number(s) / batch:

 All printers that have been upgraded to software 2.1.0_C3 in the field.
 All printers that were delivered ex factory with software 2.1.0_C3:
o DRYSTAR 5302: SN 13865, SN ≥ 13990 up to SN 14430
o DRYSTAR AXYS: SN 3938, SN ≥ 3949 up to SN 4050

1 Introduction/purpose

Symptom After changing the Key-Operator language at printers with software 2.1.0_C3, the printer
boot-up hangs with message “Please wait - self test proceeding”.

Cause Software problem in Software 2.1.0_C3.

Solution To solve the issue replace the Devius board. For this symptom currently no software
solution is available.
Keep the Devius board for software update with software higher than 2.1.0_C3. Performing
this software update will repair the Devius board.
A separate Service Bulletin will be issued when the software update is available.

3 Instructions

REQUIRED TIME:
5 minutes

To prevent the problem at affected printers:

 At new printer installations or software upgrades:
Do not change the Key-Operator language.
 Inform the customer not to change the language of the local display.

NOTE:
Production went back to software 2.1.0_C2 / Devius board version 9. In this
combination the issue “printer hang-up after Key-operator language change” does not
appear.
This software / Devius board combination also does not show the “RF-Tag lock issue”
which is described in DRYSTAR 5302 SB No. 20 / DRYSTAR AXYS SB No. 15.
