6 Performance degradation in True Copy

Phenomena At the site where RAID500 True Copy Sync OPEN P-VOL exists, Write
Pending may increase improperly, and performance degraded due to cache
overload.
Severity (High, Medium, Low) Medium
Conditions of Occurrence With all the conditions A-C met, this problem may occur.
A. True Copy Sync OPEN volume
B. MCU is RAID500 50-04-06-00/00 and later
C. Configuration in which the LU receives host I/Os with alternate paths
from multiple ports
Causes and Updates When an I/O operation is completed, the Cache slot management
information (R-VOL Pending) not removed.
Since the R-VOL Pending state remained in the slot, the slot not de-staged
to the disk. As a result, Write Pending accumulated, and cache overload
occurred.
The micro-program modified to fix the problem.

10 Alternate paths cannot be changed

Phenomena 1. Switching External Initiator to Target fails
2. External volumes are blocked when a micro program exchange or CHT
replacement
HDS Confidential 3 of 5
3. Usage of external LU path does not reach the expected value
Severity (High, Medium, Low) Medium
Conditions of Occurrence Phenomenon 1 occurs with conditions (1) and (2).
(1) Select multiple external volumes and then delete all the paths
connected to these external volumes,
(2) Change the attribute of the ports connected to the paths in (1) from
External Initiator to Target.

Phenomenon 2 occurs with conditions (1) and (2) or (1) and (3).
(1) Select multiple external volumes, delete all the paths connected to
these external volumes, and then define one path to the external volumes.
(2) Replace the CHT to which the only path is set. Though there is no
alternate path and this path is the last one to the external volumes, no
message reported about the blockade.
(3) Perform an online micro program exchange. Though there is no
alternate path and this path is the last one to the external volumes, no
message reported about the blockade.

Phenomenon 3 occurs with the following condition met.

Select multiple external volumes and add paths to these external volumes
(however, the added path is not used).
Alternatively, change the priority of paths to change configuration of paths
connected to external volumes (however, priority is not changed).
