I am interested in obtaining a Lateral Investment Banking Analyst job with Cowen and Company. Having looked
into the firm and the position, I believe that I have the qualities necessary to succeed. These qualities are
demonstrated by my current and previous experiences related to the industry.

 Strong Skills and Experience: My current experience in credit risk with a strong base of investment
banking technical knowledge from previous experiences have helped me develop the necessary
interpersonal, communication, and technical skills necessary to succeed as a professional in the industry. In
addition, I take pleasure in working with a diverse group of people within a fast-paced environment, which
have further developed my professional relationships and experience.

 Passion for Investment Banking: Ever since first becoming interested in the financial industry, I have
been trying to learn as much as I possibly can about them. As an undergraduate student at Baruch College,
my coursework has been structured around finance and economics classes I’ve taken, which include
Corporate Finance, Investment Analysis, Advanced Macro and Micro Economics, and Statistics.
Furthermore, I regularly participated in my university’s prestigious financial clubs to test trading strategies,
learn about risk management, and translate current financial news into academic knowledge. I am drawn
by the exciting and meritocratic nature of investment banking and believe I would do well in such an
environment.

 Desire to Compete: I am aware of how competitive the financial services industry and I believe my
competitive nature suits the industry well. Having been involved in sports my whole life and having played
baseball and basketball from an early age to the high school level, I know what it is like to work hard, be
disciplined, and put everything on the line in order to succeed. Similarly, having also experienced losses in
sports, I know what it is like to face failure and use obstacles as a motivation to work harder and do better.
This same attitude I believe would be a huge asset for the job.

Given my background and ability, I am confident my dedication, desire to learn and willingness to do everything
required as a Lateral Investment Banking Analyst will allow me to excel at Cowen and Company. I appreciate the
effort, time and capital dedicated to new hires at Cowen and Company and it is my mission to provide a return on
this investment as soon as possible.
