INDIVIDUAL DAY & NIGHT TRAINING
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Take advantage of the most difficult terrain.
COVER – Is a protection against enemy hostile fire.
CONCEALMENT – Is a protection against enemy observation.
CAMOUFLAGING – Consist of measures designed in order to conceal yourself,
equipment and posit ion from enemy observation.

RULES IN
CAMOUFLAGING
a. Take advantage of all natural concealment
b. Break up the forms, shadow, texture and color of an object.
c. Camouflage against ground and air observation.
d. Camouflage your position as you prepare it.
e. Do not use t oo much camouflage.
f. When using grass, leaves and other natural materials, make the look alike.
g. If possible, inspect your camouflage from enemy point of view.
h. Practice camouflage discipline.
i. Don’t forget to apply individual camouflage.
j. Camouflage must blend with the background.

INDIVIDUAL
CAMOUFLAGE
a. Camouflage your face, hands and body.
b. Use camouflage kit.
c. Camouflage your equipment.
d. Camouflage your position.

BATTLEFIELD
POSITIONS
a. Observe and fire around or side of an object.
b. Remain still and avoid unnecessary movement
c. Stay in the shadow while observing on top of an object.
d. Avoid the skyline.
e. Keep weapons available at all times.
f. Be alert always and fire whenever possible.
g. Change position every time you fire whenever possible.
h. At night, make maximum use of Hand grenades.

MOVEMENT BY DAY:
a. Move in reasonable supporting distance.
b. Follow the furrows when moving in a plowed field.
c. Avoid outstanding landmarks.
d. Keep off the skyline.
e. Don’t make straight movement on “cogonal ” areas.
f. Avoid open terrain.
g. Avoid obsta cles.
h. Avoid danger areas like native villages, known or suspected enemy
locations and places where local folks frequently visit.
i. Make maximum use of prearranged arm and hand signals.
j. Always use the buddy system.
k. When crossing open terrain like roads, clear ing, river, streams, creeks,
etc., select the narrowest portion and cross it on the double.
l. Be alert for enemy’s early warning devices.
m. Don’t leave traces.
