CHAPTER I

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

As a member of this modern society, I noticed those different changes that are happening

in our generation. We are now much open in our modern technology. Different

kind of machineries, technologies, gadgets and specially the cellphone are now existing in

our society. I guess different kind of gadgets are invented in order for us to make our

life easier and better to live. Cellphone is one of the famous gadgets that we had right

now. In this current generation that we had right now, the different youth are using

cellphone to communicate well each other. They also use cellphone to easily

communicate in their society.

There is a lot of positive effects of cellphone in our society that’s why each in every

one of us are using this kind of new technology which is the cellphone. They used

cellphone not just in their personal hobbies but also they used cellphone in their studies.

But sometimes they used cellphone not in a proper way, they abused it. Cellphone is not

all about positive effects, in fact cellphone had also negative effects in our society

specially in the schools. School is one of the most affected of cellphone that’s why

some students, they are more focusing in their different social media accounts which are

facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube and other social media accounts that they had. And

some students they spent five hours above per day by using cellphone. It’s also affect

their study because of the cellphone because sometimes they use cellphone even though

their teacher is discussing in their classroom. And that are the negative effects of

cellphone in some students. They more often use facebook rather than studying. Those

are the negative effects of cellphone in the students.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Cellphone is one of the most popular gadget in our modern society. It has a positive

effects specially in our current generation. It help us in different ways like

communicating for those people around you. Through using your cellphone you can gain

a lot of ideas and information in any different kind of sources by using different social

media accounts like Gmail in google. Through using your cellphone you get a lot of

different source of ideas in google, because google is the universal source in internet

world. By using cellphone you can also search a different knowledge and information by

using internet, you can also cite different websites that may help you into your academic

matters. Through using your cellphone you can also use your faceboook account, in fact

facebook is the popular social media account in this modern generation. They used

facebook by communicating their relatives, friends family and other individual in their

facebook world.

Cellphone had a lot of benefits in our society. In fact cellphone is very helpful in our

society. This kind of gadget which is the cellphone is very useful, in order for us to

make are world closer to each other. But sometimes we forgot how to know our

limitations as an individual in this generation. We abuse those new technologies that are

existing in our current society. Cellphone is not all about the positive effects of it. It

has also a negative effects in our society specially in school. Because students is the

most affected of this new gadgets which is the cellphone. Because some students use

cellphone not in a proper way , they abuse it. That’s why their academic is affected

because of over using cellphone. Because there are different case or way that when they

are using cellphone, it affects their studies. Some students are using facebook even

though there is a teacher in front of them discussing their lesson. They are more

focusing in their cellphone rather than listening in their teachers. In that way there is a

possible that they may get a failure grade in a particular subject. Cellphone is also a

destruction in some students who don’t know how to control their hobbies which is

using cellphone. In an internet world over using of cellphone is also bad in the students.

Because through different social media accounts like twitter, intagram,, youtube and

specially in facebook, they using those different social media accounts that’s why there

are times that they forgot their homework’s because their too much using their

cellphone. Fake news are also existing in social media world because of those individual

who didn’t think those possible outcomes that may happen if they post some news

which is not true.

So every individual in this rapidly changing generation specially in the students should

know their responsibilities and at the same time their limitations by using their own

cellphone. This kind of gadgets which is the cellphone is invented in order for us to

make our lives easier and better to live. We should know how to appreciate this kind of

gift in our society. We must know to give an importance in this different technology that

are existing in our society, most specially in the cellphone. In order for us to make our

life to be better and to be a good individual in this society.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Cellphones serves as an instrument for virtually connecting in our society. It is where

the creation and sharing a lot new or even the old ideas, information’s and knowledge’s

that our happening in our environment. Cellphone helps the development of social media

accounts by connecting users to another group of users in such way that interaction

occurs. It changes the way individuals and some organization interacts. Through

cellphone you can cite different websites in internet world and different social media

accounts as well, it is also a way of interacting and socialization in others. Upon the

existence of cellphone, we have internalized more the importance and benefits of

cellphone. Through cellphone we do business to it, we interact and connect to people to

it, we study through online by using cellphone and sometimes we can even get our food

through it. We merely spend our time by using cellphone. In fact a day without using

cellphone is nearly impossible in this generation.

The existence of cellphone is the unforgettable happenings in this rapidly changing

century. We can see that there are so many benefits and advantages of cellphone, but

the truth is we are not currently looking deep within. Because despite of those

advantages of cellphone it has also disadvantages for specially in the students which is

badly affect their academic matters. It’s also affect mentally, psychologically, emotionally

and physically health when someone who is using do not acquire proper discipline and

understanding on how to use this cellphone.

According to some students they used cellphone in a proper way because they know the

word “self-discipline” which is good for them but some of the students said that

cellphone affects their study because it becomes a destruction for them that’s why it

affects their studies. According to an old saying “too much of anything is bad” which is

actually true, especially when you are going to use it not in a proper way. Many people

where bullied, harassed, and hurt because of social media by using cellphone especially

n facebook world. People who spend more time on cellphone because of games, and

sleeping late at night tend to damage their bodies physically and make them more

frustrated which damages them mentally. There are also many cases of fake news online,

where organizations and well know people are attacked for spreading fake news online

by using cellphone. Because of these scenarios people get bullied online, which damages

them in a way that we didn’t know and some committed suicide because of the

depression which is the number one problem of some youth right now caused by the bad

and negative effects of cellphone. There are also cases that someone is humiliated

through social media by using cellphone, where there privacy is stolen from them like

spreading their private pictures and private belongings which the entire internet would

see. Having a self –discipline and knowing our limitations will help and guide us in our

everyday life. We should know how to be responsible of what we are doing in our

environment in order for us to be the role model a better individual in this society.

ASSUMPTION OF THE STUDY

In this rapidly changing society of our generation because of the different technologies

like cellphone which is existing in our society it has a advantages for us. But despite of

advantages and benefits for us it has also negative effects to us especially in the

students and it is the problem of our environment right now specially in their school

which is their academic matters. Their academic is one of the most affected factor of

over using the cellphone, it is the reason why some students get a failure grades

sometimes because of this problem. Cellphones are not just affecting their studies, in fact

it also affect their personal hobbies. In the past generation were outside of our playing

different kind play with our neighbor’s, relatives and friend as well but now as part of

growing up we are more focusing in the different gadgets that are existing in our society.

That’s why some us they choose to play online, surfing internet, texting and other

different hobbies by using cellphone. Some of the students right now they spent one to

five hours a day by using their own cellphone. But some students are not because they

spent the half of their day by using cellphone and those are the students who don’t

know how to handle or manage their time that’s why they overused their cellphone, it is

one of the negative effects of cellphone for some students.

For some students who had different social media accounts like twitter, instagram, gmail,

youtube and specially the facebook. As part of the millennials in this society right now,

I think all the students right now had their own facebook accounts. Facebook is the

most popular social media accounts. Through cellphone you can cite your own

facebook accounts. By facebook accounts you can socialize and interacts in internet

world. You can communicate with your relatives, friends and also those people you

don’t know you may also encounter them. Facebook is full of fun and its part of our

growing up, that’s some of us become addicted in cellphone because of facebook which

is also affect some students.

Facebook is one of the social media account that affect’s some students. Twitter,

instagram, gmail, tumblr and others is the different social media accounts also affects the

academic of some of us. if we over use or abuse the use of cellphone in our

environment it may lead to affect the different factors which are the academic of some

students, it may also affect the health behavior of the students and other factors. As we

are part of this changing generation we should know how to ore responsible in our

different and new technologies that are existing in our environment in order for us to be

more wisely and better individual in our society.

In the end of this research students will know how to manage their time between using

cellphone, surfing internet, using different social media accounts and their academic

performances in their school.

SCOPE AND DELIMINATION OF THE STUDY

This study is all about the negative effects of cellphone in our society specially in the

students. This study wants to know more the other factors that may affects the students.

Some students , they don’t know how to manage their time between their academics and

using cellphone and this study wants to know why. As part of their growing up, they

just go with the flow of those different happenings in our society. Like existing

different terminologies, machineries, technologies, equipment’s, and gadgets. I believed

that this new existing tools and things are usually light objects that may help our

everyday life in order for us to make our life easier and better than before. But despite

of this new existing things, behind this it has also negative effects in our society which

include the failure grades of some students because they don’t know how to manage

their time. By using cellphone it also involves the different hobbies which is under the

use of cellphone like texting and chatting in order for us to communicate, interacts and

socialize in our environment. But sometimes some students, they forgot how to use their

cellphone because sometimes they abuse it, they use it not in a proper way. Bullying in

social media accounts with the use of cellphone is the negative effects of abusing

cellphone. Sometimes by the use of cellphone through internet they spread a fake news

in different social media accounts and websites which is bad in our environment.

Sometimes they also use to create different images and videos as well that may lead

them to be a bad individual in an internet world. There are so many factors that are

affecting our environment by overusing and abusing this kind of unique technology

which is the cellphone.

This study wants to help every individual to see that we should know how to appreciate

the real essence of the new existing technology in our society specially the cellphone.

We must know our limitations in order for us to be avoided in bad effects of cellphone

in this generation.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

This study will provide a lot of ideas and information’s about the disadvantages and

negative effects of cellphone in our current generation specially in the students. Because

students is the most affected factor in our society of overusing cellphone. Some students

who overuse and who don’t know how to manage their time because of cellphone, some

of them affects their study which results a failure grades in their educational background.

The education of some students is also one of the affected factor of overusing of

cellphone. They are more focus in their social media life rather than studying.

Through internet by using cellphone you can also enter the social media accounts which

are twitter, instagram, youtube and specially facebook. These different social media

accounts can be a distraction for some students because it can be lead to addiction of

using cellphone. Through different social media accounts the world become smaller, you

may be closer in any different kind of person, language, culture and different

phenomenon as well. It’s the reason why surfing internet is so fun. That’s the reason

why some students trying this different kind of social media accounts because internet

world are so enjoyable. But we forgot how manage our time between the reality and

internet world. Despite of those happiness that are happening in internet we often forgot

that is also affecting their own personal hobbies and lifestyle as well.

Overusing of cellphone may lead to unhealthy body also. It may affects not just your

physical health but also your mental, spiritual, and other health factors. By overusing of

cellphone sometimes we forgot how to eat in a proper way and time. It affects also

your mental health because through internet again you may be depressed and bullied

because of using not in a proper way of cellphone, that may lead to suicide and it is

the most popular problem of some youth right now in our generation. And it may affect

your spiritual health because we often forgot to praise and serve God because we are

now focusing in using cellphone, and it is the problem of overusing and abusing the

power of different technologies that are existing in our society which is specially the

cellphone.

This study will serve as a wakeup call in everyone especially in the students, that we

must know how to appreciate the real essence of this new technology which is the

cellphone that is existing in our society. We should know our responsibilities and the

our limitations as well in order for us to prevent the negative effects of cellphone in our

society.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

According to some researchers, cellphone is one of the distractions of some students in our

society right now (Darren McCollester, 2008) Children, teens and even young adults are prone to

distraction with cell phones. In the classroom and out of school, cell phones provide students an

instant network of communication and entertainment. Inside the classroom, students are

distracted from the lessons to text, play games and, if they are very daring, call other people. Cell

phone ringers, alarms and ring tones disrupt the flow of lessons and the attention of every student

in the room and the teacher. According to the National School Safety and Security Services, text

messaging can be an aid for cheating students. Also, the camera in a cell phone can be used to

photograph exams. The camera also can be used to photograph other students in a way that is a

violation of privacy.

In the case of school emergencies, cell phones can prove more of a hindrance than a help. Cell

phones have been used to call in bomb threats. In many districts, tracking a cell phone is not

easily done. Also, students' use of cell phones in a school emergency can possibly trigger a real

bomb if an explosive device is on the school's property.

In some researcher, according to cellphone is also a distraction is some students (Erin Schreiner

2018) Along with their books and school supplies, most high school and college students -- and

many younger students -- make their daily trip to school with their trusty smartphone. Mobile

phones connect students to one another, to educational resources, and to a potential host of

distractions. The presence of cell phones presents both opportunities and challenges for today's

students. Mobile phones can be a helpful academic tool, or a hurtful academic disruption

depending upon the attitude and use pattern of the students and the policies of the schools they

attend.

Mobile phones are undeniably convenient. Because of mobile phones, students never have to

look for a pay phone or wonder about the location of a friend. These ubiquitous communication

tools allow students to reach their peers and their parents instantly. Everything from ordering a

pizza to calling to check movie times is easier with a cell phone, as the communication device

you need is right at your fingertips.

Picture-taking and Internet surfing are readily available on most cell phones. This aids students

in gathering the information that they need for school or accessing their email or school website.

Students benefit from this technology availability as it allows them to create more polished

academic products with less effort than before the ready availability of cell phones.

Many parents argue that cell phones keep students safe. A parent is never more than a phone call

away when a student is carrying their cell phone. The presence of a cell phone also ensures that

students can call parents or emergency personnel in the case of an unforeseen emergency. While

most students will never have to use their cellphone as a safety device, the knowledge that it

could be used as such puts parents at ease and keeps them paying the monthly cell phone bill.

The biggest lament of teachers in regards to cell phones is that they lead to student distraction

and off task behavior. Texting a friend is a tempting diversion that many students select over

listening to a lecture or completing a class assignment. If not silenced, cell phones can ring

during class, drawing everyone's attention away from the lesson and disrupting the flow of

learning. Many teachers worry that this added distraction negatively impacts students' school

performance as it stops them from dedicating their full attention to their studies.

While useful, many of the features of cell phones can also be used to engage in inappropriate

behaviors. Taking inappropriate pictures and then “sexting” them to a boyfriend or girlfriend is a

growing problem. These pictures often end up in the wrong hands, which leads to others gaining

access to the private photos. Teens often fail to recognize the long-term implications of

inappropriate behavior and engage in the behavior without considering the consequences. The

consequences for inappropriate behavior are real and long-lasting. Once distributed, sexted

photos are almost impossible to contain. The presence of these racy photos can limit the teens

options in the future and severely mar their reputations.

METHOD OF RESEARCH

The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate how the existing cellphone in schools which is The

Ripple of Hope Skills and Technology Institute Inc.

It incorporated the diverse perspectives, qualitative viewpoints, and data collection, and analysis and

reference techniques. A carefully crafted mix of qualitative research methods: participant observation,

focus groups and interviews, and survey questionnaires allowed the researcher to build on the strength of

each type of data collection.

The research methodology that we used in this study is the qualitative research because this

study is all about the negative effects of cellphone in students. We choose this study because we

want to know the responsibility of some students in order for them to know their limitations of

using cellphone as a student. It is important for some students to know their limitations in order

them to prevent a having a failure grades in their educational journey.

SUBJECT OF THE STUDY

The respondents of this study are the students from The Ripple of Hope Skills and Technology

Institute Inc. Wherein we want to know their struggles and problems as well, when using

cellphone, despite of the advantages of the cellphone is this generation.

The students of the RH-STI are the Grade 11 Accountancy and Business Management (ABM),

Grade 11 A&B Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), Grade 11 A&B General Academic

Strand (GAS), Grade 11 A&B TVL-Home Economics (TVL-H.E), Grade 11 TVL-Tourism, and

Grade 11 TVL-Information Computer Technology (TVL-ICT).

And also the Grade 12 students of RH-STI such as Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences

(HUMSS), Grade 12 General Academic Strand (GAS), Grade 12 TVL-Home Economics (TVL-

H.E) and Grade 12 TVL-Tourism.

1. What are the different social media accounts that you had when you are using cellphone?

2. How many hours you spent a day, when you are using cellphone?

3. What are the different activities that you had, when you are using cellphone?

4. Does the cellphone affect your study?

5. What do you think are the negative effects of cellphone in the students?

We choose those questions, because those are the common question that always comes on my

mind when I hear the negative effects of cellphone of some students. People nowadays are using

different social media accounts such as youtube, twitter snd most commonly facebook.

In questions no. 2, which is “How many hours you spent a day, when you are using cellphone?”

We choose that questions because we want to know how many hours per day they spent when

they are using their own cellphone. And according to our survey they spent 5-8 hours per day

which is good but some of them they spent 10 hours above which is bad because they are

overusing their cellphone.

While in question no. 3, “What are the different activities that you had, when you are using

cellphone?” We also want to know the different activities that they are doing when they are using

cellphone. And we found out that them more on surfing internet, texting in a way that they

communicate in their friends and playing online games.

The question no. 4, we choose this question “Does the cellphone affect your study?” because we

want to assure if their cellphone is one of the reason of having a failure grades in academic

matter. Because people nowadays their own cellphone, which they can use in their different

activities that they had in their lifestyles.

And last the question no. 5 is “What do you think are the negative effects of cellphone in the

students?” for us this is the special question that we had in this study because we want to know if

cellphone is all about the positive effects of it. As the days goes by we found out that cellphone

is not all about the positive, in fact cellphone had also negative effects in our environment

especially for the students.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The significance of this research was clearly communicated to each participant before the

instruments were presented to them. They were informed of the purpose of the research and were

assured of confidentiality and anonymity of any information they contributed. Participants were

also given the option to participate or to refuse. All participants were thanked for their

contributions. Formal interviews were conducted on the schools compound. The students were

interviewed after their class hours in their classrooms and the paper questionnaires were also

delivered to students in their free periods to be completed their own time. These were returned

after they answer their questionnaire. Interview was done with students during their vacant time.

It was a bit challenging to get students to give up their vacant period sometimes however they

worked with me even as they often promised to come the next day. It just meant that the

students’ data collection exercise took a while longer to be collected. By answering the

questionnaires was lasted between 10 and 15 minutes. These answers that we collected were

allowed the researcher to capture the perspectives of the participants related to the

implementation, use and benefits and the negative effects of cellphone. Their views were

meaningful, knowledgeable. All the information collected was kept safely in separate files until

it was required for analysis.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT APPLIED

The analyses for this research were based upon inductive analyses, thematic analysis, and

statistical analyses. The inductive approach allowed for the collection of data that was relevant to

the negative effects of cellphone for some students. From the qualitative data collected at the

school the following procedure was engaged to process the information. The qualitative data

were collected using survey questionnaires. This was put into a database for processing. The

sample data was then analyzed using percentages. The narrative recordings were transcribed and

the brief responses to the open ended questions on the surveys were added to the script. The data

was read intently and information considered to be irrelevant was removed. The researcher

wanted to find out what were the responses of individuals at the school who were connected in

the negative effects of cellphone therefore the analysis was guided by the pre-set research

questions. These questions allowed the researcher to easily create text as it was read. The data

were then selected and put accordingly under the categories of use, implementation and benefits

of cellphone. At the end of the reading, and we found out that there’s a lot of negative effects of

cellphone for the students. The collected data was brought together and typed into Microsoft

Word. The respondents were all very helpful, and supported my efforts to collect this data. The

students appeared to be excited when they were approached for assistance with the data

collection. They thought that a solution was being brought to solve their problems with the

laptops as their first response was to complain about the problems they were having.

CHAPTER IV

RESULTS OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study was to know the negative effects of the cellphone in RH-STI Students,

by investigating the perception students that experiencing having their own cellphone and the

possible impacts of it in the students. In this chapter, findings are presented the five research

questions that we had the questions presented in Chapter One; what are the different social media

accounts that you had when you are using cellphone, how many hours you spent a day, when you

are using cellphone, what are the different activities that you had, when you are using cellphone,

does the cellphone affect your study, what do you think are the negative effects of cellphone in

the students. The first question wants to know the different social media accounts when they are

using cellphone base on the collection of qualitative data. The second question presents the

number of hours when they are using cellphone a day and what is the benefits of it. The third

question discussed the different activities of the students when they are using their cellphone.

The fourth question reveals if overusing of cellphone will affects their academic, in what way

and how? And last the fifth question wants to know the different negative effects of cellphone in

the students.

It must be noted that the researcher has made a concerted effort to present the data with as little

comment as possible in order to paint the clearest picture. However there has been some editing

for clarity. The qualitative data has been added in each section in order to strengthen the

subjects’ assertions.

How were they used their cellphone? Student responses students were asked how they used their

cellphone in school, they responded like projects, some recreation, some students use the

cellphone for educational purposes mostly school work, mostly games, to look at pictures, use

Google to do research and use Microsoft Word to do assignments, we listen to music, we

download music videos and movies using our flash drives, use YouTube, Facebook, we cut and

paste to print, download information. 90% of the students rated themselves as advanced or expert

when it comes to use of the cellphone and all of them rated themselves highly as regards social

media. Students feel that the main impediment to their cellphone use is the lack of an Internet

connection at the school. Because they feel they need connection to complete assignments, students

without internet connection at home, take their cellphones to the internet café to get an Internet

connection to do assignments then print work and bring to school. However of the students that took

the questionnaire, nearly three quarters of them had the Internet at home. Many students use the

cellphone to prepare for their academic matters. Some students (15%) believe that the cellphone

is not working well and as regards inappropriate use of the cellphone. They think the lower form

students tend to use cellphone for the 4 wrong reasons, which have included the downloading of

pornography. Many students agree that, “Students should not be allowed to use cellphones as

they please”. Most of the students questioned believed that there should be more parental

involvement in order to reduce instances of inappropriate use. Parents should sit with their

children and look at what their children are doing by the time they leave them on their own they

doing they own thing. 75% of students stated that the laptops provided didn’t work. Some

students allow their younger siblings to play with cellphone which contribute to a reduced life of

the device on the negative side, students reported that their while their cellphone are helpful for

learning, they also clearly recognize that cellphone can become a distraction for themselves and

others during class.

Students are mandated by the Ministry of Education to use the cellphone in terms of studying as

well as for assessment and student assignments in at least one lesson per day. Some students may

borrow a cellphone for use at school however in most instances personal cellphone are used. As

to the cellphone’s use as a student’s tool in the classroom, the students reported that whenever

possible, students try to make use of it. Students use YouTube videos as teaching aids when

possible. The cellphone are used extensively in conjunction in the classroom with cameras,

camcorders, tablets and with projectors to enhance the delivery some information’s. It is also

used to prepare PowerPoint presentations, assignments for students, to conduct research for

lessons, to prepare exams scripts. One particular student uses which ICT’s students all the time

in studying. They send their information’s for their co-students their lesson notes and

assignments via e-mail, or puts it on their flash drives for those without internet connection.

Students must return assignments in like manner. When they gets to class they hooks up their

cellphone to another cellphone at which time there is lively interaction and discussion because

students already know what is to be discussed and the images presented are interesting.

The cellphone is also used to communicate with other from other students with the intention of

sharing resources, ideas, strategies on what could be useful for the subjects in question. This is

done through the use of the social media. Many students are unable to use the cellphone

effectively however because students are not bringing the cellphone and the internet is not

available.

How was the cellphone implemented? Student responses when asked about barriers to

implementation, or what they felt affected how useful the cellphone were to them, the students

stated--- I feel we should have internet in school. Students are not told how to use the cellphone

they should give us information about how to use the cellphone and on it we could use. Miss

they could put more work on the cellphone. We do not mind bringing the laptops but sometimes

it is difficult to carry together with our books. We need some new things what they have on it is

things we know already from primary school. They should have given us modules - the

cellphone I do think is a good thing. Some students like to do big people they like too much ah

facebook, you should have like the students bring in the cellphone so they could check it to make

sure they doing the right thing and take it if necessary. I find like children even though they are

checking on us we can still delete history, we can still refresh the cellphone, I do not think it is a

good I feel that they should give us books because the same thing we do on the computer we can

get from books.

Students usually pick up Wi-Fi from external connections and while they sometimes use this to

assist with school assignments; they also take the opportunity to go into various websites at their

leisure. Some teachers do not allow students to use cellphone because there is no internet, many

sites are blocked, and in any case due to lack of outlets in the classroom. Lack of parental

involvement and lack of Internet connectivity, were also a barrier to implementation. They also

believe that there needs to be more infrastructures in order to facilitate better implementation.

Some of them wish to use the cellphone more often in class.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

Cellphone is one of the most popular gadget in our modern society. It has a positive

effects specially in our current generation. It help us in different ways like

communicating for those people around you. Through using your cellphone you can gain

a lot of ideas and information in any different kind of sources by using different social

media accounts like Gmail in google. Through using your cellphone you get a lot of

different source of ideas in google, because google is the universal source in internet

world. By using cellphone you can also search a different knowledge and information by

using internet, you can also cite different websites that may help you into your academic

matters. Through using your cellphone you can also use your faceboook account, in fact

facebook is the popular social media account in this modern generation. They used

facebook by communicating their relatives, friends family and other individual in their

facebook world.

Cellphone had a lot of benefits in our society. In fact cellphone is very helpful in our

society. This kind of gadget which is the cellphone is very useful, in order for us to

make are world closer to each other. But sometimes we forgot how to know our

limitations as an individual in this generation. We abuse those new technologies that are

existing in our current society. Cellphone is not all about the positive effects of it. It

has also a negative effects in our society specially in school. Because students is the

most affected of this new gadgets which is the cellphone. Because some students use

cellphone not in a proper way , they abuse it. That’s why their academic is affected

because of over using cellphone. Because there are different case or way that when they

are using cellphone, it affects their studies. Some students are using facebook even

though there is a teacher in front of them discussing their lesson. They are more

focusing in their cellphone rather than listening in their teachers. In that way there is a

possible that they may get a failure grade in a particular subject. Cellphone is also a

destruction in some students who don’t know how to control their hobbies which is

using cellphone. In an internet world over using of cellphone is also bad in the students.

Because through different social media accounts like twitter, intagram,, youtube and

specially in facebook, they using those different social media accounts that’s why there

are times that they forgot their homework’s because their too much using their

cellphone. Fake news are also existing in social media world because of those individual

who didn’t think those possible outcomes that may happen if they post some news

which is not true.

So every individual in this rapidly changing generation specially in the students should

know their responsibilities and at the same time their limitations by using their own

cellphone. This kind of gadgets which is the cellphone is invented in order for us to

make our lives easier and better to live. We should know how to appreciate this kind of

gift in our society. We must know to give an importance in this different technology that

are existing in our society, most specially in the cellphone. In order for us to make our

life to be better and to be a good individual in this society.

The study aimed to know the Negative effects of cellphone The Ripple Hope Skills and

Technology Institute Inc. by investigating how cellphone were used, the implementation of this

study and the benefits of the having cellphone. The research focused on a selected group of

student in RH STI such as ABM, GAS, HUMSS, ICT H.E and Tourism Students, who formed

the sample, in order to provide data related to their experience which was initiated at this school

in August 2018. Many important insights were revealed from the qualitative data which was

acquired. The implications of each finding, recommendations for improvements and suggestions

for future research are presented hereunder. Clearly there is a need for more research on the

benefits of cellphone in studying and learning as was indicated by us. The research has revealed

that, without a doubt, there are great needs to study the new learning environments which have

been created since cellphone were part of the generation. The unpreparedness was observed in

the data collection exercise. The qualitative data as well as the research cited herein suggested

that the success of the implementation process is directly related to the culture of the individual

school and also the level of implementation which might be required.

CONCLUSION

This study evaluated the negative effects of cellphone in RH-STI students in order for them to be

aware. This case study focused on the use of the cellphone, the implementation of the cellphone

and the benefits to the students. The research discovered that the others and students used the

cellphones less than was hoped by the students and when they were used; many times they were

used inappropriately or were distracting. All the students agree that the students were

implemented was semi poorly. There were no structures put in place whether physical or

technological in order to facilitate the proper use of the cellphone in the classroom. Because of

the lack of such, the benefits realized were few. The students’ technological capability did

increase to some extent however not as much as would be hoped, especially as regards research

skills. Overall the cellphone is being crippled by the implementation issues, and this must be

addressed immediately. This exercise has helped me to understand why we need serious

researchers in this country and that herein may be the solution to many wasted millions of

money. They should then create an effective planning team to ensure that recommendations

materialize.

RECOMMENDATION

The way to prevent the negative effects of cellphone in RH-STI students

1) As a student’s we should know how to know our limitations in order for us to prevent the

negative effects that may happen in our academic matters.

2). Cellphone should be carefully designed and tailored according to the needs of each school

and implemented appropriately with the involvement of the students. Back home, the first

responsibility of the team should be to create a comprehensive system to manage the cellphone

and then ensure that all stakeholders are sensitized about the agenda. The operation should be

systematically integrated since the cellphone has already begun. Systems should be put in place

to monitor, to manage and to ensure that the standards.

3) The scope of this research was limited to one school, the RH STI. To truly acquire a fuller and

more comprehensive picture of cellphone as it currently stands, similar research must be carried

out at all the schools involved

4) There should be further research to ascertain whether the use of cellphone has improved

academic achievement. What did the experience of undertaking this research do for me? This

research allowed me to investigate the cellphone issue at this school which is the RH-STI. This

was a situation which drew my attention since the cellphone began in this 21st century. At that

time I was struck by what seemed to be the lack of a plan as to how the cellphones would be

incorporated into the curriculum. Undertaking this exercise was certainly an experience which

brought to my mind a whole new understanding of the invaluable significance of conducting

research before beginning to implement any project. Front end studies are even more critical

when this new development impacts the nation’s youth and the economic prosperity of the

country. There have been many positive experiences but there are three points I wish to

highlight. Doing this research allowed me to work with students at a different level and to gain

an even greater respect for them. One thing which stood out was how the students said the same

things in different ways. In addition I was empowered with a degree of knowledge and some

tools that I can use when I am confronted learning difficulties in the classroom.
