LCC Silvercrest School

August 22, 2019 is our 3rd day of duty. I am really happy because I got news that Junior High
School Department are having their Intramurals 2019, so that means only a few students could be able
to walk across the street. I got in our designated school at exactly 2:49 in the afternoon. Since we are
already complete, we start our duty at 2:57 in the afternoon but the time that we write in our log book
and daily time record is the usual time we used to perform our responsibility. After positioning ourselves,
I immediately felt pain in my heel. The reason of that is my overloaded task as student/ volunteer/ leader
and as a daughter. Anyway, I give my phone to one of my group mate, Ms. Hernandez, to take us some
photo for our documentation. Everything went well until I realized that we encountered three drivers are
using their mobile phones while they are driving. Hopefully they have a safe travel because what they
are doing is against the law. As what I’ve mentioned, today is the intramurals of JHS Department, the
reason why I find our duty as boring. The time become slowly and my heel continue to feel the pain. I
asked Mr. Lalog if he will alow me to exchange our designated area and he agreed. After a moment, my
dad, driving his motorcycle, stops in front of me to ask few questions. I introduced my father to my team
mate so that they can be able to greet him. Later on, Mr. Muria, the Dean of the College of Criminology,
and Dr. Sanchez, the assistant dean, was passing through the pedestrian. We greet them and check our
time because we want to make sure that we will be having no conflict. Around 4:30 in the afternoon, we
ended our duty. After entering the JHS Faculty room, we saw that Ms. Mercado is not around so the
secretart of the said department signed to our Record book and DTR.

II-A BS Crim August 20, 2019

LCC Silvercrest School

Around 2:00 in the afternoon, August 20, 2019, the weather is slightly raining and it gets me
confused if we still have duty because I am already in our school. As time goes by, the weather keeps
getting better. I came at LCC Silvercrest at exactly 2:50 in the afternoon and I saw two of my group
mates waiting there, Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Ramirez. Actually, this is our second duty for our National
Service Training Program (NSTP) and I was wrong in the idea of thinking that what happened to our last
duty will be the same for the next duties. Different gestures, different difficulties and different solutions
are what we encountered during that time. At exactly 3:00 in the afternoon, we started to execute the
essential hand movements and position ourselves at the both side of the pedestrian lane. One of my
group mates volunteered to become the teller of learners, educators, guardian and many more on where
is the proper crossing. I remember that the problem we face last time is that a lot of people are not
following the correct path that’s why as an application for the second duty, there’s a man teller who
remind them the right thing to do. In the middle of our duty, I noticed that only few students are crossing
the street and ask one of my friend who passed by. He mentioned that learners and teachers from grade
school is schedule for a half day class. I share this information to my team mate because I know that
they are also wondering why. While I’m doing my responsibility, I received three calls and I answered it
all for a short period of time. The first one is from Cancervants PH, an organization where I belong who
helps kid with cancer, next is from my classmate, asking for our call time tomorrow, and lastly, from my
co-officer in school. After a few minutes, my team decided to swap our positions so that all of us can
experience different area. As constant, I took a photo of my group mates for the sake of their
documentation and so do I. The difficulty that we encountered is when a group of Junior High School
Students run across the street and did not wait for our cue. Luckily, the vehicle coming alerted and
slowed down. Again, we ended up at exactly 4: 30 in the afternoon. After logging out in our record book
and writing down in our daily time record the essential information, we go to the Principal’s office for her
signature. When we get there, the secretary told us that the Head is currently attending seminar so we
let her sign for us. Before returning home, we took a group picture first so that we can use it as our
remembrance.

Punyeta! Bakit hindi natin gamitin ang salitang "magandang buhay" upang makihalubilo sa kapwa
Pilipino???

Nasa unang baitang pa lamang ako noong itinuro kung paano bumuo ng salitang Tagalog, maging ang
pagkanta ng "Tong tong tong tong pakitong kitong, alimango sa dagat". At pagdating ko sa ika-limang
baitang, pinag bigay kaalaman sa amin ang mga salitang ugat kagaya ng bigkas, sayaw at awit at kung
paano ito lapatan ng panlapi. Nakarating ako ng ika- siyam na baitang at ako’y namulat sa kagustuhan
ng mga Pilipino noon na maipaglaban ang sariling atin, nakasaad sa isa sa mga nobelang isinulat ni Dr.
Jose Rizal, ang Noli me Tangere. Makalipas ang dalawang taon, nakarating ako sa ika- labing isang
baitang, kung saan kami lumikha ng sariling pananaliksik. Nakakatuwang balikan ang mga ala ala sa
likod ng asignaturang Pagwika at Pagbasa sapagkat ito’y sumisimbolo sa aking pagka Pilipino.

Subalit, anong nangyari pagpatak ko sa kolehiyo? Parang lumalabo ang aking mga mata. Sinubukan
kong kusutin ito, at sa muling pagmulat ay doon ako naliwanagan na wala pala sa akin ang problema.
Nasa mga Pilipino na tumatalikod sa ating sariling wika at tumatangkilik sa wikang banyaga.

Nabalitaan niyo ba ang pagkawala ng asignaturang filipino at panitikan sa kolehiyo?

Hindi ba ito hadlang para sa isang kabataan na pag-asa ng ating bayan?

** Taong dalawang libo at labing walo’y umusbong ang usapang filipino at panitikan sa programang
K-12 Kurikulum. Noon pa lamang ay naging adhikain ng Komisyon sa Mas Mataas na Edukasyon na
tanggalin ang nasabing asignatura sa kolehiyo dahil sa paniniwalang ang Filipino ay inihahayin sa
pagtuturo at hindi bilang lupon ng mga aralin na ginagamit upang matuto. Dahil dito, marami sa ating
mga guro ang naghahayad ng kanilang takot at agam-agam sa kanilang kinabukasan sa pagtuturo sa
kolehiyo. Bagama’t malaya pa rin ang ilang mga uniersidad sa kanilang programang gagamitin. Sa
pagdepensa ng Tanggol Wika, dala ang pinanaligang katotohanan na hindi dapat hayaang bumaba ang
kalidad ng wikang pambansa ay inapelahan sa Korte Suprema. Ipinaalala ng Kagawaran ng Edukayon
na bukod sa mga guro, responsibilidad ng bawat pamilya na ituro sa kabataan ang pagpapahalaga sa
wikang Filipino. Sa kasamaang palad, nasawi ang grupo ng mga kabataan sa pagkabasura ng kanilang
apela na nagdulot ng lunos at napakalaking dagok sa ating lahi at kaysasayan. Kaya naman mas
lumawak ang paniniwalang ang wika ay isang literatura, unti-unti lamang itong mawawala kapag
natutunan ng bawat indibidwal na hindi na gamitin at tangkilikin pa dahil maglalaho na rin ang tyansa na
ito’y maipasa pa sa susunod na henerasyon.

Ngayon, masasabi ba natin na ang kabataan pa rin ang pag-asa ng ating bayan? Kung sa kalusukuyan
ay inilalayo na sa mga mag-aaral ang isa sa mga bagay na ipinaglaban ng ating pambansang bayani?

Huwag tayong magpatalo sa mga dayuhan, huwag magpa-akit sa wikang banyaga. Dito sa ating bayan,
dapat tayo ang nagpapamana. Ating pagyamanin ang sariling atin ,huwag natin itong limutin bagkus ay
pagyabuhin

Pero... Teka...

Sa palagay ko ay isa ka! Oo, ikaw! Isa sa mga humahalakhak kapag narining ang salitang salungso,
salungki, salumpuwit, salungtak, at salompas. Ilan lamang ito sa mga malalim na salitang hindi natin
kalimitan ginagamit sa araw araw.

** Patunay na mas mataas ang bilang ng mga kabataang hindi tumatangkilik sa wikang bayan.
Kaya naman sa pagpasa ng nasabing ordinansa’y hindi hinadlangan ng nakararami.

Paano na ang ating yaman? Paano na ang ating mga propesor? Paano na ang ating kinabukasan?

Ikaw, ikaw, ikaw! Tara! Ipaglaban natin ang wikang Filipino! Nasaan na ang tining ng kabataan sa
natatabunang wika ng ating bayan? Sa isang kolehiyo o unibersidad na lang ba naten iaasa anga ting
sariling kayamanan?

Nakakatakot. Nakakatakot. Nakakatakot dahil tayo mismo ay dayuhan ng ating sariling bayan.
