Which do you prefer to be an engineer or an entrepreneur? Why?

I prefer to be an engineer, at the same time an entrepreneur.

Ever since I was child, I really don’t know what career or field I will take or what do I
really want to be. Our parents always ask about what you want to be in the future or when
you grow up, of course we answer like; I want to be an engineer someday or I want to be
businessman/woman, some wants to be a chef, a doctor, a teacher, a flight attendant and
many more. We’ll definitely say those careers because it has good salary without even
knowing about it, what work will await us, how challenging or hard it is. My mind changes
as I grow up on what I want to be not until High School starts. In every class or programs,
they always talk about that work do you want or what career do you want to pursue,
everywhere, every events they all asked about it. Then I realize I want to become an Engineer.
I’m inspired by the structures that I’ve seen online and personal, I’m amaze on how do they
build buildings, houses and other structures. I know if I work hard I can also build structures
like that in the future. Back then my only goal is to be a successful engineer. Until I step on
College, I realize that having an engineering degree in the future will provide many different
job opportunities. One of those possibilities includes becoming an entrepreneur. I’m starting
to like the business world because of the influence of online shops in social media and one
of my friend also this kind of business, other food business started to pop up elsewhere,
some are around our campus. Engineer can begin a construction company or start a
manufacturing company for building materials, but I prefer not to begin with that, even if it
is the closest on the profession that I have, I prefer not to begin building a business with
regards to my profession. The business that you can build if you're a license engineer doesn't
revolve on construction or manufacturing company, you can build any business you want in the
future that should be in or be helpful for the community I want a business that is not related to
construction. I want to try new, I want to experience having two different jobs at the same
time, it may be challenging but I think I can manage. Being an entrepreneur and starting a
new business can be quite challenging, however an engineer possesses a few characteristics
that will make the transition a bit easier. I believe that engineers make great entrepreneurs,
one reason is because engineers can solve problems. The field of engineering is filled with
people who are trained to solve problems. Engineers are trained to think logically and to
follow a methodology to uncover useful solutions. This is how engineering bring value to
consumers, this is the basis of a successful business. Second reason is engineers are
optimistic, engineering courses teach us to persist in the face of difficulty. An engineer always
think positive and will persevere until a problem is solved. Even though it may take time, an
engineer will find an answer. This is a key part of beginning a business, an entrepreneur must
never give up and must continue to move forward in the face of difficulty. An engineer may
lack experience in marketing, there may need to be a process of trial and error, however,
the great attitude of an engineer will not be limited by the need to modify a business plan
and move on. Not every entrepreneur has a background in engineering, but it certainly can
be a positive influence. An engineer will possess the necessary characteristics that make a
new business successful. An engineer knows how to solve problems, will stay positive, can
build customers trust and will never stop learning new things. The business world is tough,
but with these traits, a person is sure to succeed that I why for me engineers make great
entrepreneurs.

Having a goal to be accomplish in the future can make us people be determined,

hardworking and confident. A person’s mindset and approach can mean the difference
between success and failure.

Have you experience to be a team leader/member? Discuss your participation? How does it
help you?

Being part of a group has both positive and negative outcomes for an individual.

Positive outcomes can be listed as enjoying group work, gaining new perspectives and
making friends, and being more creative. On the other hand, there are some negative

outcomes such as disagreements between the members of group and losing time for the
project that is required to be finish.

Being a college student I have been a member for the most of the time because I feel
more comfortable to follow instructions from my leader. I partake in every brainstorming

that my group has to do, I suggest what we should do to finish our work. As a member of
the group I have the leisure to do my work comfortably as long as I did my work right and

won’t affect the project in a bad way. Being a member doesn’t have that much pressure
because you just have to do what you’ve been ask to do. You just have to put much effort

to help your group to have a positive and better outcome of your project. You should always
be listening in what you’re group plans to be able to communicate and avoid the

misunderstanding that can lead to the delay of your work.

Being a member has less pressure but you should put a lot of effort to be an effective
member. You should always listen and speak what you have in mind that can help the team

to have a better output. I know some just wants to be member because they don’t want to
be pressured and to think about the group work, some don’t want responsibilities because

being a leader is such a difficult task to do. Leader have to be firm all the time to be able to
achieve the team’s goal. Everybody can be a leader but not everybody can be an effective

leader same goes to the members, not every member is an effective and useful one.
Goals are the future you wish to accomplish. It has a powerful impact to many people. It
affects people to be determined and confident. When people ask about what I want to be
in the future, I respond that I want to be an engineer. Others will have something to say
with this career like it is a hard and challenging career but I don’t mind those. My goal is
clear and set. My ultimate goal is to be an engineer. I desired being an engineer before
anything else. I would like to be a huge help to people in providing them an exceptional
way of living. I’ve been inspired by the structures that I’ve seen online and personal, this is
also a reason why I want to be an engineer than to be an entrepreneur. I know I can also
build structures like that in the future, if I work hard for it. I won’t slack off even just for a
minute, because I know every minute counts for me to become an engineer. With this said,
you have to be clear on what you want to achieve in life. You should set your goals, for
you to have that desire that you want to achieve something in your life. Every minute
counts so don’t waste your time, you should move according to your goals.
