Research Questions
The study aims to develop a Nipa Enterprise Agri-Tourism cum Adventure Island and aims
to answer the following questions:
1. What will be the primary benefits of the new development to the community?
2. What design strategies that can be applied in order to execute a unified design with nature
and a tourist-friendly adventure complex?
3. What facilities are needed for a Development Center and Adventure Complex?
c. Architectural Goals/Objectives/Strategies
The study mainly aims to design and organize a site development plan of the 223,054.00
square meters (22.3 hectares) land in Barangay Tabba, Pamplona Cagayan with a Nipa
Development Center and Adventure Complex to provide business center that promotes their
primary crops and new place for tourism and recreation.
The purpose of the study are as follows:
To design and develop a Nipa Development Center and Adventure Complex in Barangay
Tabba, municipality of Pamplona, Cagayan that can create different opportunities for the
locals.
Strategies
Creating livelihood opportunities in the community through providing different
services needed for the adventure, such as selling the value added products of Nipa,
boat attendants and the like.
To develop and design an adventure island that encourages tourism development through
rich social interaction among the tourists and the nature.
Strategies
Integrating the philosophies of Organic design to create an open design that
encourages the tourists to connect with nature and to appreciate even more the
beauty of the natural surroundings.
Providing adventure facilities that enables the vacationers to be inspired through
what they can see and experience as it is a part of their appreciation and educating
themselves.
The proposal also aims to apply sustainable design concepts, to provide resiliency on the
structures, to design a place for it to become as a representation of the place itself. Not just to
design the buildings considering its aesthetic factor but also to consider the function and impact
of the development to the people creating a sensible place promoting culture and tourism.
g. Definition of terms
The following are conceptual defined and was the researcher’s working definition to
enhance the understanding of readers of this paper.

Holiday Villa – Shell by Kotaro Ide
Karuizawa, Japan, 2008

Coexistence of natural environment and architecture is an important part of every
successful design, according to ARTechnic creatives who designed a holiday villa – Shell – in
Karuizawa, Japan, in 2008. The villa fits perfectly into surrounding landscape, similarly to
Fallingwater. Reminiscent of a shell, it not only corresponds perfectly with natural surrounding
but is also proportioned impeccably to fit the needs of its inhabitants. Its proportion and curved
lines stand in contrast to a woodland, but nonetheless Shell’s presence is balanced against both
surroundings and human presence. As designers contend “by isolating living space from the
wilderness, and upgrading its quality as a shelter, the house will be protected from nature and will
provide a comfortable environment. With this, the house will be taken care of and used frequently
and continuously.”
A frame, a shape, made at a completely different place for a completely different purpose.
Within this shell shaped structure will one find floors constructed, wall separating spaces, and
rooms furnished. The scenery conjures a SF film-like image, in which locals inhabit over an
abandoned spacecraft. With time, trees start to grow encircling the spacecraft, harmonizing it into
the landscape.
Relevance to the Study:
The Shell Villa is one great example of Organic Architecture. The researcher is
encouraged to use principles of Organic Architecture to the study to create a more unified design
with nature and create exciting adventures where tourists could really connect and appreciate
their time with nature. The way how the villa preserved its setting shall be emulated to the study.
