GIC Milestone : 50 years of leading
Malang, Indonesia, September 30, 2019 - September 30, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary for Global
International Company (GIC), one of the largest dedicated manufacturers of Foods & refreshment,
beauty&personal care and homecare in the world. GIC has grown from a small manufacturing
company to an internationally recognized supplier of human needs. We started our journey in 1969
until more than 300 brands was invented during the 50 years of leading. GIC is also a business founded
on a sense of purpose, and our unique heritage still shapes the way we do business today. GIC has a
simple but clear purpose – to fulfil human needs and make sustainable living commonplace. We
believe this is the best long-term way for our business to grow. GIC is committed to supporting
sustainability and providing our consumers around the world with the products they need to look
good, feel good and get more out of life.

In the 50th anniversary of our company, we would like to look back to our 50 years journey back then.
We began the journey by making our very first product which is a body soap. We sell the soap door to
door. Our first product was a successful debut. We collect our money and started to build a small
home industry. The first achievement that we got was in 1975, we have successfully introduced
products from our company to more than 7 countries and our production reached 7,000 for the first
time. Our dream was bigger than that, so we continue this company and take it very seriously until for
over 50 years we’ve been pioneers, innovators and changemakers. The following are the
achievements of our company :

We have successfully introduced products from our company to more than 15 countries in 1982 , on
1985 the first branch was built in China. 1995 was the memorable year for GIC. We won the biggest
company award with more than 100 brands in Sydney on May 26th 1995. That award just like stepping
stone for our company’s growth. GIC become a global company that was almost known all over the
world and we were working with more than 56 companies in more than 17 countries. We also built
10 branch companies in 10 different countries.
GIC reach more than 1 billion consumers on 1998. As GIC’s commitment to support sustainable and
providing our consumers around the world, we made a project that was help more than 9000 children
who experienced edema in 7 countries in 2004. As time goes by, our company getting bigger and
bigger. A lot of brands in the beauty field, homecare, and personal care were made. We expand our
manufacture for fulfilling human needs. We keep focusing on our purpose. We maintain our quality.
We won the biggest company award in New York on September 20th 2014. Not only focusing on
product but we also concern about the people. We involved 300.000 farmers and ranchers in training
programs. By the end of 2018 we had reached 1.24 billion people through our programmes on
handwashing, safe drinking water, sanitation, oral health, self-esteem and skin healing. Overall water
use has been reduced by 33% per tonne of production since 2004. Our company in Indonesia won two
awards at the 2018 Indonesia PR Of The Year Awards Awards held by MIX Marketing Communications
magazine.

Innovation is at the heart of GIC’s ambition to grow sustainably. Science, technology and product
development are central to our plans to keep providing consumers with great brands that improve their
lives while having a positive impact on the environment and society. 50 years leading as the world’s
biggest company, we continues to evaluate the quality of all our products by maintaining and adding

(2) Research at our world-class facilities- Our six main R&D centers in the US, UK, Netherlands, India
and China work on the science and technologies that can be applied to our product development process.
(3) Investment in a brighter future- More than 6,000 Unilever R&D professionals are building our brands
through innovation. We invest around €1 billion in R&D each year, and we hold a portfolio of more
than 20,000 patents and patent applications.

We have seen together how long this company milestone has been to get in this position that now we
see as the biggest company in the world. This journey will remain to grow bigger and bigger. Global
International Company’s 50th anniversary is a great opportunity to raise awareness to our earth and
surrounding about the global warming issue that we have to deal. We hope all of our costumer could
