METHODS

This chapter deals with the procedures and techniques used by the
researches in completing the study. It includes the research design,
population and sampling, sources of data, data gathering procedure data
analysis and statistical instrument of study.

RESEACRH DESIGN

This study on the levels of the anxiety of Grade 12 HumSS students in


public speaking using English language made used the descriptive-survey
method. Descriptive-survey id defined as a research method that
describes the characteristics of the population or phenomenon that is
being studied. Primarily focuses on describing the nature of demographic
segment, without focusing on “why” a certain phenomenon occurs. The
survey questionnaire consisted of three parts. The First part is
demographic profile of the respondents which include their socio
demographic profile profile in terms of Age, Sex, and Place of the
students. The Second part determined the manifestations of speech
anxiety experienced by Grade 12 HumSS students of STI West Negros
University. And the Third part identified the students perception and
their level of speech anxiety. Descripted method is considered appropriate
in determining the relationship between English language and public
speaking anxiety.

The researchers personally distributed and retrieved the questionnaires


from the students.

To assure the factuality of each item in the questionnaire, the purpose of


the survey was explained to them carefully and they were supervised in
the accomplishment of the questionnaire.
POPULATION AND SAMPLING

The target population of this research defined to include the levels of


anxiety in Grade 12 HumSS students the respondents will be the sources
of information regarding the relationship between the levels of their
anxiety in English public speaking.

Samples are selected using the method of simple random sampling.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researcher make use of a written questionnaire. The researcher gives


or distributes the questionnaire contains 3 parts: The profiles and the
questions rendered to the respondents. Part 1 ask about the demographic
profile of the respondents which include their socio demographic profile in
terms of age, sex, and [lace of the students. Part 2 determined the
manifestations of speech anxiety experienced by Grade 12 HumSS
students of STI West Negros University. Part 3 identified the students
perception and their level of speech anxiety.

The data gathering instrument were tested in order to ensure the


reliability of it. The sampling method that was used is simple random
sampling.
