RULES AND REGULATIONS

DECLAMATION (English, Filipino, Hiligaynon/Kinaray-a)


Rules:

a. The contest is open to all grade levels.


b. The contest pieces must be of any topic suited to the contestant provided that it does not portray
vulgarity such as rape, terrorism, murder, sexual harassment, incest cases and other immoral and
criminal acts. Inclusion of teleserye characters and lines are not allowed.
c. Lapel will be used.
d. Interpretation of the piece must not only focus on the eye and facial expressions but should have
appropriate body movements.
e. A minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of seven (7) minutes for English, Hiligaynon and Filipino
Declamation. The timer will ring the bell at the end of seven (7) minutes for English, Hiligaynon and
Filipino and 5 mins, for Hiligaynon/Kinaray-a. One (1) point will be deducted from the total score for
every thirty (30) seconds exceeded.
Criteria:
a. Interpretation 35%
b. Facility of Language
i. Pronunciation 10%
ii. Enunciation 10%
iii. Stress 10%
iv. Accent 5%
c. Suitability of the Piece 15%
d. Mastery of the Piece 10%
e. Stage Presence 5%

VOCAL SOLO POP SONG (OPM)
Rules:
a. One representative per section
b. A piece must be Original Pilipino Music (OPM) composed by a Filipino composer written in English
or Filipino dialect.
c. The use of an accompaniment such as minus one, tape recorded, CD or USB are allowed and live
instrument is not allowed.
d. The participant is free to choose a composition suited to his/her range. Back-up singers in the
minus one are allowed provided they do not sing louder than the soloist during the entire
performance.
Criteria
a. Tone (Tone, Quality, Flexibility, Range) 30%
b. Musicianship (Melody, Rhythm, Tempo, Dynamics) 20%
c. Style (Interpretation) 20%
d. Enunciation (Clarity of Sounds, Vowels and Consonants) 10%
e. Suitability of the Piece (Quality, Suitability to singer’s range) 10%
f. Stage Deportment (Stage presence, Showmanship) 10%

VOCAL SOLO CLASSICAL – VISAYAN FOLK SONG


Rules
a. The piece must be a Visayan classical composition.
b. The soloist must sing with the tape recorded or CD accompaniment in piano setting only.
c. Popular song (pop music) is not allowed.
d. Transposition is not allowed.
e. Contestants are free to choose any Visayan Classical composition in any Visayan dialect.
Criteria
a. Tone (Tone, Quality, Flexibility, Range) 40%
b. Musicianship (Interpretation as to Melody, Rhythm, Tempo, Dynamics) 30%
c. Enunciation (Clarity of Sounds, Vowels and Consonants) 10%
d. Piece (Quality, Suitability to singer’s range and to age level) 10%
e. Stage Deportment (Stage presence and Showmanship) 10%

IMPROMPTU SPEECH
Rules:
a. The contest is open to all year level
b. The board of judges will prepare questions; the chairman will give the same to the contest in-charge at
no other time, except at the very start of the competition.
c. A question is picked out by a contestant three (3) minutes before the delivery. The delivery must not
exceed three (3) minutes.
d. The timer will ring the bell at the end of the three (3) minutes. One point will be deducted from the
total score for every (30) seconds exceeded.
Criteria:
a. Content 30%
(Worth of ideas comprehensive treatment and up – datedness of the issues)
b. Facility of English language 25%
(Diction, pronunciation, enunciation, stress and accent)

c. Organization/Logical presentation of ideas 20%


d. Delivery 15%
(Style/expression and gestures, voice projection)

e. Stage presence 10%

DAYAW
Rules:
a. The contest is open to all year level.
b. The contest piece should be in a form of encomium using only decent words.
c. The contest piece should depict “Aton Kalibutan, Aton Amligan.”
d. Language to be used must be Hiligaynon or Kinaray-a.
e. Microphone should be used.
f. Background music should limit to an instrumental, preferably piano, flute, saxophone and the like.
g. The delivery must be a minimum of 5 mins. and a maximum of 7 minutes. One point will be deducted
from the total score for every (30) seconds exceeded.
Criteria:
a. Theme/Content 30%
b. Interpretation 25%
c. Pronunciation, Diction, Articulation 20%
d. Mastery of the Contest Piece 15%
e. Stage Presence 10%
TOTAL 100%

COMPOSO DUET
Rules:
a. The lyric of the song should be in local dialect and should depict the theme “Aton Kalibutan, Aton
Amligan” (Save the Earth)
b. The song must not exceed five (5) minutes. One point (1) will be deducted from the total score for
every thirty (30) seconds exceeded.
c. The performance may either be both males, both females or a combination of both.
d. The accompaniment is limited to acoustic guitar setting only. It’s either live or recorded.
e. Modulation or refrain is not allowed.
Criteria:
a. Tone quality 30%
b. Content (Theme) 15%
c. Musicianship 25%
d. Blending/Harmony 15%
e. Mastery 10%
f. Stage Deportment 5%
TOTAL 100%
ORATION
Rules:
a. The contest is open to all secondary students.
b. The contest piece should depict the theme. “Save Mother Earth.”
c. Microphone should be used. The contestants are allowed to hold the microphone and allowed to walk
on the stage.
d. Interpretation of the piece must only focus on the eye and facial expression.
e. The delivery must be a minimum of five (4) minutes and a maximum of seven (7) minutes. The timer
will ring the bell at the end of seven (7) minutes. One point will be deducted from the total score for
every thirty (30) seconds exceeded.
Criteria:
a. Content 30%

b. Facility of English Language 35%
