ENTREPRENEUR PROFILE - MAGAZINE (20%) - Group

For this assignment, students need to prepare a magazine format report of the profile of a selected entrepreneur in
the technology-based industry. This assignment provides an opportunity for the students to meet and interview
their chosen entrepreneur and eventually to learn the entrepreneur’s business journey and experiences.

A. The Task

During the first meeting, each group needs to propose at least three (3) new or growing technology-based
entrepreneurs for the assignment by the end of Week 3. Upon discussion with the lecturer, each group will
select one technology-based entrepreneur to be selected.

The report should be in the form of articles of publishable quality, rather than merely a full transcript of the
interview or a collection of pictures. Copying previously published paper-or-online-based articles are strictly
unacceptable and considered plagiarising.

The deadline for this assignment is on 9 November 2019 (Week 8).


B. Assessment (20%)

The assessment of this assignment is as follows:

 Content (15%):
o Background of the Entrepreneur and Business Firm (5%)
o Key Success Factors – at least 3 (5%)
o Issues and Challenges (between 3-5 issues and challenges) (5%)

 Creativity and Format (5%)

SIMULATION OF A NEW BUSINESS IDEA (BUSINESS PITCHING) (20%) - Group

In the similar group, students are required to discuss, formulate and present a business idea based on analysis of
business opportunities using the NABC technique.

A. The Task

For this assignment, students are expected to show their ability in:
a) analysing customer needs,
b) designing unique approaches to values,
c) quantifying benefits to customers, and
d) developing a concept prototype for the proposed idea.

Each group needs to present the business idea through a pitching session. The pitching session is a 5-minute
presentation of business ideas explaining the critical element of the proposal.

Presentation will be implemented on Week 4.

Viability of the Business Idea (10%)

Presentation (5%)

BMC PRESENTATION (10%) - Group

In the similar group, students are required to develop a business model analysis based on their proposed business
idea. The assignment provides an opportunity for students to formulate their business model of the business idea
and plan according to the Business Model Canvas template.

A. The Task

a) Every group will run business simulation sessions to identify business opportunities as well as to
develop and pitch their business concept using the appropriate techniques.
b) Every group will develop their business model progressively until the last session.
c) A complete business model canvas will be presented during Week 13.
d) A complete business model report needs to be submitted via eLearning on week 14.

B. Assessment (10%)

Content (Practical and Solid Idea) :5%


Presentation (Convincing) : 5%
EXPERIENTIAL ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITY (50%) - Group

Preferably in the same group, students are required to plan and organize a small-scale business activity (offline) for
at least one day. Students are also required to run their business activities (online) utilizing online digital commerce
platform/media.

Each group is expected to arrange for all the required resources, including financial and human resources. A
report is to be submitted for assessment after the event.

A. The Task
a) Each group is required to submit a report for assessment detailing out all activities before, during
and after the event as well as the financial matters about the business activity including the budget,
costing, pricing, sales, profit and profit sharing.
b) Each member of the group MUST register in Go-eCommerce platform and provide updated
distributed performance report (sales & expenses, with evidence) throughout the duration of
running business.
c) Each report should be concluded with all points learned from the activity. There is no specific
formats or length limitation on the report.
d) Marks will not be based on profitability alone.
e) Report of the assignment should be submitted on Week 14.

B. Assessment (50%)

Assessment is based on a written report submitted after the business activity (20%) and observation
during the activity (30%).
Teamwork is an important aspect of managing any activity! Hence, you will also assess your team dynamic
based on cooperation given by team members. An assessment form (5% - parts of the observation marks) will
be given to your via elearning and you need to fill it with full of sincerity.
