The given summative criterion determines the results of the searches of a patron. It also

researches.

According to Fischer (2012), the use of ICT is for us librarians to provide information to
the “right users” at “any time”, from “anywhere” in the “right way”. Success in providing
resources depends on the information satisfaction of the library users. The practice of
using the web based technological settings may provide rapidity and accuracy on the
retrieval of information.

The emerging ICTs changed the point of view of traditional libraries in providing services
among users. One of its examples is the UST Angelicum College Libraries. The libraries
were able to provide students, faculty, administrators and staff the use of OPAC (Online
Public Access Catalog), wherein they can easily search and retrieve materials on the
shelves independently. The librarians were also able to easily lend materials and check-
in books to the library just by scanning barcodes. The software used by the library were
able to determine the current statistics, can generate reports, and can regulate losses of
materials in the library.

Information and Communication Technology had a big impact to the library world. It
also provides opportunities that may help libraries all over the world to be globally
competitive. ICTs improves workflow of librarians and the library itself. It results to
reduced manual works and effective and efficient library services. Libraries should
consider the quality of services that would result to the success of applying ICT on their
own respective libraries.
